Today is Tuesday I am at work. I graduate next week. I had icecream at lunch it was really great in fact it really grinded my gears. it is sunny it was cold this morning i had toast this morning vogels and molenberg coz we ran out of vogels at my house. i suppose it is just as well that my flatmates are going shopping today. Improper use of "grinded my gears".... "what really grinds my gears" is a negative thing. You said that it was awesome, and that it grinded your gears.

A proper example of something that "grinds your gears" would be:

"When I cant find the droids I'm looking for, it really grinds my gears"

now *that* is proper use of the term
