Okay so last weekend my dad and I went up north on friday night and saturday to look for morrell mushrooms. And I love doing this, because I need daddy-daughter time once in a while. I know that some people don't get that..but I love my dad, and I will miss him in college. So i'm spending lots of time with him now. Anyway...so we got up really early saturday morning..like at 530. Before the sun was up. and I was like..DAAAAd, WHY? and it was because we wanted to be the first ones out there.
So I get ready quickly and basically stumble to the car, because I'm half asleep. Then on the way to breakfast, I see the sun coming up in the sky. And it's SOO amazing. I never get to see the sunrise. I'm either in school or sleeping. Let me just say, I think a sunrise is just as pretty as a sunset, because it lets you realize that you have a wonderful day coming, full of sunshine. It's a great feeling.
And as if that wasn't enough....
We were looking for mushrooms on some state forest land. And there was no way that we were going to find any. And we didn't. We only found mushrooms that weekend in nester, the private hunting club that my dad goes to. So we were both very disappointed, walking out there in the woods, finding nothing on the ground. It was very dry.
We were walking up and down hills and walking through the woods gets very tiring..(if you've ever done it, you know.) So anyway, we wanted to stop and rest for a minute. My dad found a nice log to sit on, on a hill. And we sat there for like five minutes. And it was quiet. And peaceful. And calm. No one talking, no city noises. Just perfect. It made me realize how awesome God's creation is. I heard the birds singing and the wind was blowing the trees. And the sun was shining on my face through the trees. It was the greatest feeling in the world, just to sit and know that there was no rush to do anything, just sit and listen to the sounds of God's creation.
If anyone ever gets the chance to go somewhere not in the city, I recommend it. It was simply amazing to sit and listen to the sounds of the forrest. If you've ever done it, you know what I mean. Thank you God, for your awesome creation and everything in it. :)
