I don't think there are enough happy, supportive, and badass couples in fiction, really. Romances tend to result in happy couples, but there just seems to be a tendency to prefer romances over established couples. Of course, this may be a bias of the kinds of things I read.
I think it is somewhat easier for people to find an interesting story about a couple that is not yet a couple or a couple that is dysfunctional.
Two people getting together? That's a story right there!
X cheating on Y because Y spends more of his time with the kids now to be a good father, so X feels ignored by Y? That's a story right there!
X and Y are happy with each other? That is not a story. (Well, not usually.) You then need to introduce some outside factor to make it into a story.
But... because happy couples are so rare, I tend to be all over it when I find stories that contain them that are also good stories. So for me, fictional happy couples have become an interesting thing simply because they're so rare. XD
