The Firelord's Lady wears a crown. She does not wear any other jewelry, because jewelry is- Song cannot find out what jewelry is because the women of the court think she is a horrible little foreigner, and the servants are not sure if they love her or disdain her.
But a Firelord's Lady does not wear jewelry.
It was a shock to the Fire Nation when Song stepped onto the gangplank, wearing her bridal hanbok and the bridal jewelry King Bumi gifted her with. She glittered and shone, her hanbok of finest silk and woven by the ladies of her village, her jewelry of ancient Ba Sing Se designs and new Omashu designs. She looked beautiful, she knew. Green stones to make the brown of her eyes all the more enticing, pale gold and silver to not overwhelm her smooth skin, opals of all colors to shine with the beauty of balance.
Zuko looked thunderstruck, and the courtiers with him looked- Song clutched Bumi's arm hard.
She didn't want to be left alone here with her mother. She wasn't sure she wanted to be here at all, not anymore.
King Bumi covered her hand on his arm with his, fingers pushing into the stones of her bracelets. "I'll see it done right," he breathed so softly she barely heard. "And if it doesn't work, I'll take you home whenever you call."
That steadied her, and she mustered up a smile for her future husband as he approached.
A Firelord's Lady does not wear jewelry, but a Firelord's Lady is always nobility too.
