Chromia folded her arms. "Elita One, what were you thinking?"
Elita One no longer reflexively cringed when Chromia took that tone with her, even if it did still make her feel like a misbehaving young dock-girl who'd gotten pulled over by a copper. "I was thinking Ultra Magnus does not have the rank to order me to do anything," she said cooly, folding her hands together in her lap.
She sat in the shadow of a ruined building, lights off, optics to their lowest setting, her face tilted up to the starry sky. She knew she was still daring a sniper to take her head off, but the risk was worth the reward.
Somewhere out there, Optimus Prime was fighting Megatron.
"It's been two million years." Chromia placed a hand on Elita One's shoulder. "Alpha Trion has said Ultra Magnus is the supreme military leader of the Autobots."
"He can only do that if Optimus is dead," Elita One said serenely. "He isn't. Therefore, Alpha Trion cannot appoint Ultra Magnus supreme military leader."
Chromia turned and punched the building hard enough to leave a small crater. "Smelt and forgefire! You know better, 'lita!"
Elita One raised the light of her optics a notch. "I was built for him, Chromia. Of all the people on Cybertron, who do you think would know best that Optimus Prime still lived?"
The blue car cursed and transformed, zipping off to leave Elita One alone in the darkness.
