I want more books like The Concubine. I want historical romances set in places other than Regency England, Scotland, and the American West. I want non-white heroes and heroines.

It's a sad fact that, off the top of my head, I can only list a handful of such books. Jade Lee's The Concubine and her Tigress series. Carrie Lofty's Scoundrel's Kiss, which is set in the exotic land of Spain. (Sadly, the fact that it was set in Spain was a selling point for me, because it was different from usual for historical romances.)

Now I must admit that there are a lot of romance books that come out every year and every month. I could not possibly read them all. Perhaps there are many more historical romances of the sort I'm looking for, and I just haven't noticed.

I kind of doubt it, though.
