Mai, Tyro, and Pakku - feline beckyh2112 September 12 2010, 02:41:49 UTC
An elegant, short-haired rosecat with fur the color of bronze nestled in Lady Mai's lap. Ears didn't flick at the thunk of knife into wood, and tail remained neatly curled over nose.

Gently, Mai rested a hand against its side, her fingers just at the base of its ears. Her blade-throwing switched to her off-hand, and the cat began to purr as she scritched.

Miss Song's terrier cat had kittens a few weeks ago. It's a good ratter, she said with smiling eyes while she showed him the kittens, and she planned to keep most of them for herself or her neighbors.

A tiny little calico stretched and sauntered over to investigate the new people. It sniffed Tyro's hands curiously, then climbed onto his arm. The big man only smiled as it ventured up to his shoulder, turned three times around, and curled up.

He and Miss Song talked of the harvest and what to do now the Fire Nation wasn't supposed to be a threat. Neither of them quite believe it, and they both worry about how much food there'll be in the winter. She and her family had a chance to tend their lands; Tyro didn't think his village could say the same.

He and Haru still had a long way to go, however. Bringing enough food to make a difference would slow them down. He'd have to trust to hope.

"She likes you," Miss Song said with a smile as they walked out of her barn.

"Hm?"

Haru looked up from where he was helping bring in squash from the garden, grinned. "We have a cat now?"

The little calico purred, perfectly content on Tyro's large shoulder.

A tatter-eared snow lynx sauntered into Kanna's tent as if it owned the place, dropped a puffinhare in her lap, then went to flop across Pakku's feet.

Kanna gave the Northern cat an ugly look. It returned the favor.

The waterbending master laughed fondly, patted its shoulder, and pulled his hand back just in time to avoid getting bit.

All three are so cute. And Pakku- oh, Pakku. That is so utterly in keeping with him.
