Hmm, sounds like they have both become sociopaths!

Perhaps trauma to the head or brainwashing?

I am thinking either brainwashing or spirit-shenanigans. Which is basically brainwashing with magic.

It's either revenge, or a spirit innocently wanting to make Jeong Jeong happy again "like he was when he was young".
