One Christmas several years ago, my parents got me How to Lie With Statistics [Amazon | Powell's] as a present. It's a thin little volume and the examples are a bit dated, but it gives you a very good, easy to understand grounding in what statistics numbers mean and how people can twist them to mean things or look like they mean things when they really don't.
