"Can you throw this away for me?" I look up and smile at the man reaching out my hand to take the milk carton.
"Sure can." I look down at the suspiciously heavy milk carton now in my hand, filled with mashed potatos.
"You don't want your mashed potatos?" I ask.
"If I dont eat enough the doctor said they wont take this tube out of my nose" he says earnestly.
I just laugh and throw it away.
The lengths patients go to. too bad i'm the one who records how much he eats. and yes this man was in his 60's. I wonder if he thought he was quite clever trying to trick us. anyway I thought it was hilarious.
