So there's this whole other world out there that I never
even knew about...and I've come to realize that in
addition to being strange, this world is FUN!!!
You just have to ignore the comments from "normal"
people who just don't understand.
It's called historical re-enactments. And apparently
I really enjoy being part of that. Maybe some weird
role-play nerve in my body just got tapped on, but I
think I just discovered a new hobby. And although it
involves wearing a heavy wool cloak, it does not
necessarily involve Dungeons and Dragons. Not that
there's anything wrong with that...
I'm not talking about the civil war type from back east,
but instead about the French-Indian war type (think
"Last of the Mohicans"--my chance to finally be
Miss Cora Monroe!!).
Okay, a little weird, I admit, but there's just something
about wearing big skirts, tight bodices, and smelling like
a campfire that is just too darn fun! And don't forget:
learning how to spin wool by hand. :)
I swear, I always knew I was born in the wrong time. The best
part about re-enactments is the variety in role-playing. I was
hanging out with the blacksmiths and the bum named Hester who
steals food from people's camps and they throw rotten tomatoes
at her. Who can beat that? Let's see you top that for a
Sunday morning activity!
Photos to come later. A must-see!
