Some part of Prentiss expects Hotch to be a little uncomfortable with her - even just in a kiss. Awkward, maybe, or tentative or just a little hesitant.
He isn’t.
He has his fingers pushed into her hair, holding it away from her face, the kiss is gentle, but that’s not the same thing as uncertain. It’s sure as hell not guilt-ridden. It’s being careful of the bruises on her face and with her/ It’s relief and it’s got nothing to do with anyone else.
It doesn’t feel like a first kiss at all. It’s like he’s always been here.
