Wow, good use of that prompt. Had to read it a couple of times, actually. What I said before - very few words, so much meaning.

That prompt was just. The most perfectly Hotch thing ever and THANK YOU.

It's taking me longer to get my head round Hotch than any of the other characters. Saying he's complex doesn't quite cover it.

But I'm glad this quote inspired you :D

It's very hard because it's more than complexity. It's. Jack was complex. The Doctor was complex. Hotch is complex, controlled, introverted, and understated. Finding a way to reflect that, and not end up writing 'cookie cutter man 3' is... freaking hard.

Most of the time, on TV, the writers are keen to beat the viewer over the head with a sign that says 'here are this character's personality traits'. Much less so with this show.

Very much less so which is kind of nice. I mean you SEE Hotch's personality traits, but one of the big things is that. He does not share a lot, even compared to the rest. Makes me want to turn him upside down and shake him until something falls out.
