Um... HI! Yes, I am still (by the grace of the Flying Spagetti Monster) still here.
I'll do the RL version before I do the Grand Wrap Up For 2012 as this will be a lot quicker than the Not RL stuff. I wrote four stories for various fandom holiday exchanges as well as looking at the films of the year....
And that's before getting to unveiling (at long bloody last!) the
xmenbigbang story I've been working on. Productivity? Thy name is Beckymonster!
So...
Christmas was quiet - Shinzon is growing like the proverbial and is also * ambulatory*. So guess who spent quite a bit of his stay trundling after him, making sure that he didn't get into harm's way or owt. I may have brought him a knitted stegosaurs, called Steve for Christmas; which I've been told, he adores. He might prefer his grandad but I'm winning the cool auntie war so far;)
Then - there was the keyhole surgery...
As far as I can tell - everything was textbook. I still have the canula bruises on my hands and a nice line in small incision scars dotted over my torso but they'll eventually get to a point where I know they are there but no one else will.
Although the surgery was carried out at a 'private' hospital - I was given the very best of care and I was able to leave the hospital within about six hours of the operation. And under my own steam too! Although according to my Mum - I looked half dead, which considering, was a fair assessment!
As I was coming around, the surgeon popped in to see how I was, sign me off and give me a sample of the stones they removed along with my gall bladder. One of them? Is a good two inches oval and looks remarkably like the Xenomorph eggs from Alien. Every time one of those bastards decided to make a break for it, I would be in excruciating agony. So yes, no regrets about the surgery.
Admittedly, it's taken nearly a week to get back to a semblance of good health but I'm feeling okay right now - bit cold but we do seem to be having the yearly cold snap right now.
Which, when you think about it, is just the right time for me to get 85% of my hair cut off. Going from shoulder lenght curls to a wavy pixie cut. 'Short' doesn't even *begin* to cover it. It's something that I've wanted to do for at least a decade and I'm glad I did. Even though I now have to use a hairbrush (rule one of life with curly hair? Do Not Use A Hairbrush on it. Not unless you want to go for the 'electric shock' look) and a hairdryer to style it!
One thing is certain - I draw the line at straighteners!
So - that is me - how are
you guys?
