Arthur Christmas - Oh Aardman animation, ilu! Yes, even more than Pixar this year. No, this has nothing to do with a certain Professor Hottie (although, he is adorbs in this;)) it is because it's *true*

I tend be a bit of a grumpy guts when it comes to Christmas - new Who and a week off work is all it means to me - but this brought a smile to my face. And in 3D too! Not least because you got science jokes in within the first two minutes of dialogue but because you managed to seamlessly marry up the joy and the snark beautifully. You did it with worry, laughter and you made me happy. Bravo - consider that brought when it makes it onto DVD .

Singin' In The Rain - Perfection. If there is a better musical than this, I've not seen it and to be honest, I doubt such a creature exists. This is the film that 'The Artist' wants to be but falls short. Don't get me wrong - The Artist is in the top 20 films I've seen this year but Singin' is in the top 10 of all damn time.

Shelock - A Scandal In Belgravia. The BFI are awesome.
'Leave Baker St? England would fall'
Martin Freeman will shatter hearts in '12. Count on it!

Lilo & Stitch - the last 'great' 2D Disney animation. And as good as I remember it. Any film that starts off in space with non-humanoid aliens and mad scient- sorry 'EVIL! Geniuses!' Has to be good y/y? And then it introduces the other main character - a very believeable little girl who loves Elvis and is an outsider trying to find a family to call hers. Also has the best named character ever in Cobra Bubbles.

The Band Wagon - I think this is meant to be one of those 'meta' thingamabobs. A musical about putting on a musical. Not as well known (to me, anyhow) as say 'Singin'' but still beautiful to look at and thoroughly enjoyable.

The Dark Knight Rises Prolouge - six minutes. That's all. Six months before I can see more. And about five months until I can buy a ticket to see it in IMAX because zomg - I am *there* on opening day! Nolan won my undying nerdish devotion with 'Inception' and I saw nothing here that tells me said devotion is misplaced. So many questions but one thing is certain, I can't wait to see more!

Sherlock Holmes : A Game of Shadows - If there is time, once I have gotten through the 'to-see' list'o'DOOM!, I will go see this
again.

And not just because I missed (I think) The Dark Knight Rises trailer. Honest!

Apart from it being the slashiest movie of the year *not* to feature mutants, I want to 'read' it on it's own merits. Leave aside the BBC version (as brilliant as that is) and just enjoy it for what it is. Although bringing Moriarty in may not have been the wisest move as you instantly expect Riechenbach to happen. Which can be both a good thing and a not so good thing. Especially as the BBC version will cover that this season as well. One thing it did need was more Noomi Rapace! She was good in the scenes she was in but I wanted more. Oh well, there is always 'Prometheus'!

Puss In Boots - that was fun. The music was good too. Not up to Pixar standards (what animation is - apart from Pixar themselves?) but a worthy diversion for ninety minutes. And there was a Muppets trailer as well *squee*. So worth it.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - Saw this on IMAX and I can honestly say it was worth the money. Which I cannot always say and makes for a good yardstick too;)
Not a great fan of Cruise but when he surrounds himself with good actors and lets said actors have their moments in the sun - then I like him well enough. Here he does that and it works a treat. It's a well done action/adventure film with a damn good cast and well worth your time and money. It's not Bond but few things are. Still, would recommend it. Even without The Dark Knight Rises trailer;)
