'F' standing for 'Football'. Yes, I have no love for The World Cup. Added note - look at the bottom of the page;)
Simply because a) England will be out by the 1st week of July and more importantly b) *everything* seems to stop because of it. No decent films (Toy Story 3 - is out in the US next weekend - 23rd July in the UK), no decent telly ( ( Read more... )

You sound like me around Christmas time. I get so tired of hearing about it -- news, advertisements, movies, 24/7 Christmas music (no, really, some stations do that) -- that I just want it to be over. My inner 8 year old is wondering what the heck happened. ;)

The Daily Show (a news parody show that's scarily got more news in it than most "news" programs, with bonus mostly bleeped out cussing) had a great bit about the World Cup. One of their reporters is John Oliver, who's British, but has been working in the US for the last few years.

I wish I could show you the clip, but Comedy Central blocks visitors from other countries and will kick it off YouTube in a hot minute. Oliver was reporting from the training camp for the US team, getting the giggles over even saying the US had a team in the intro, because that's just crazy talk. Especially not in comparison to the country that invented it and lived and breathed the sport ( ... )
