You can tell it's nearly summer... I've started walking round the library minus my shoes. In bare feet. The bosses will not approve.

Movies wot I have watched recently
The Boat That Rocked
A very British film about
Pirate Radio in the UK and it's influence on UK culture... which makes it sound very dry but it's anything of the sort.
The film has issues regarding colour/women/homosexuality, granted. Has a killer soundtrack, mind. I enjoyed it a lot, regardless of it's flaws and would heartily recommend it to anyone with a love of the music of the 1960s.
Not to mention - tea and bourbons are the *best* way to deal with romantic knockbacks.
Monsters v Aliens
Holy Cow! The best animated film I've seen from a studio that isn't Pixar/Ardman/Gibhi for about eight/fifteen years?! (Depending on your view of Shrek, of course). Okay - it's not in the same league as any of the above studios output but still...
Doctor No
First of the Bond movies (not the first of the books - that's
Casino Royale - Doctor No is the 6th in the series. This is the template for the rest - the action, the sets, the danger, you name it - you can see the seed here.
And it looked as good as it plays - awesome.
Fast and Furious
Slashy (please tell me there is good smut out there for these films?!), trashy and quite forgettable - apart from Vin Diesel's arms. Watch out for the
character in a fridge mind.
Oh and for ma NCIS peeps - look who went over to the Hoover building!
Race to Witch Mountain
It's a re-make of a 70's film that is raised beyond the usual level for Disney Live Action by the fact that Dwayne Johnson is both easy on the eyes and a damn fine actor. (Makes no attempt to hide the fact that I have The Scorpion King in my DVD collection. Definitely one to watch on TV.
Goldfinger
This film *always* reminds me of Cardiff. It's a long story. Even so - it's one of the best of the 'early' Bonds (and one of the best Bonds, period) and despite certain misgivings re: sexism etc... it's still a corker of a film.

I've signed up for
ncis_ficathon for this year. May the 'verse have mercy on my soul.
I am writing. Which is as scary as it sounds! More when it's nearly ready to go. Or it drives me scatty - whichever happens first.

I will get to the comments soon - Promise!
