about 2 weeks ago, wish advertised 2 jobs in the guardian. to minimise the amount of time taken sending out application packs (we've had more than 200 requests in the past 2 weeks) i set up an auto-response system on outlook express, the idea being that people e-mail the jobs address with the job reference number in the subject line and oe automatically sends back an e-mail with all the relevant attachments.
i've tested this system myself using outlook express, thunderbird and mac mail and as far as i can see, it works fine. however, about 20% of people are e-mailing back to say that they can only see the covering letter (which is in the body of the e-mail) but none of the attachments, which is obviously requiring more time to send the pack out manually. are they being daft or is there a problem with the system that i haven't considered? is there a better way to do this that i haven't thought of?
have left this public in case you want to point a techy person who's not on my f-list to this post. thanks!
