As I've said before, and I don't mind standing up and being counted on this, I have heard the origin of this nickname, and I can confirm that on the basis of what I was told, and by whom, it definitely doesn't apply to you.

It's time this pathetic stupidity stopped. These people deserve out pity for being so completely fucking deluded.

*hugs*

Thank you.

(Although of course if the poster *does* realise they've got the wrong person I don't want them going off and posting shit like this on other people's LJ's either!)

*hugs back*

It's OK, I don't think they would actually bother to go head to head with anyone who might be a bigger nutter than they obviously are.

There's something funny about those IP addresses. Very interesting to see where the server the traceroute can reach is though...

There might not be one, given that you can post anonymously without logging in. Which in a way is even more desperate because it might be that someone who isn't even on LJ could be watching yours for any activity, the saddoes.

They both resolve to an Opal Telecoms DNS server in Manchester and thence to a Carphone Warehouse owned server (doesn't mean the user's with Carphone Warehouse, for example CW also own TalkTalk and Tiscali) before the trace fails. The next hop can't be resolved, which suggests use of an Internet proxy to hide the originating IP address. However, it looks like it might only give a false address, rather than a false route. The proxy would provide a different address either for every connection or periodically, to provide further anonymity and make it look like more than one poster (though it's also possible more than one person happened to post from the same area via the same proxy server).
