February 11th: One for the gays... Cher singing "All I Really Want to Do"

Feb 14, 2007 14:55

Yeah, it's cheese. But it's 60's cheese, which is better than the stuff she would later put out. This fit rather nicely in the niche of music being created at that time... hell, it had those tamborines. Can you go wrong with tamborine?! Actually a Dylan song at first (he would duet with Joan Baez), Cher and Sunny (producing) made it their own...

Intersting: Until I wanted to share the video for this song, I thought that it was Sunny SINGING with Cher. Nope, she's the entire song... hitting those low notes all by herself. Wow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yulbzUrFWIQ

Cher:
Now I ain't lookin' to compete with you,
Beat or cheat or mistreat you,
Simplify you, classify you
Deny, defy or crucify you.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you
Baby, be friends with you

No, and I ain't lookin' to fight with you,
Frighten you or tighten you,
Drag you down or drain you down,
Chain you down or bring you down.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.
Baby, be friends with you

I ain't lookin' to block you up
Shock or knock or lock you up,
Analyze you, categorize you,
Finalize you or advertise you.
All I really want to do, yeah
Is, baby, be friends with you.
Baby, be friends with you.

I don't want to straight-face you,
Race or chase or track or trace you
Or disgrace you or displace you,
Or define you or confine you.
All I really want to do, yeah
Is, baby, be friends with you.
Baby, be friends with you.

Now I don't want to meet your kin,
Make you spin or do you in,
Or select you or dissect you,
Or inspect you or reject you.
All I really want to do
Is, baby, be friends with you.
baby, be friends with you
