So last entry... three weeks ago, give or take a couple days, i was like yeah! I'm gonna update every day! And then nothing was heard from me since.
But at least now i have something to update with, as on friday shaun and i purchased shiny new mountain bikes! And have used them already!
So... I still haven't been getting up early for work or walking. I haven't been drinking as much water a day as i should be, but i've definitely made an improvement. I'm down to ONE can of soda a day, which is AWESOME for me (as i used to be six or seven... sometimes more...)
The way i've worked it has been working so far, without leaving me like, CRAVING soda or anything... I'll bring one can into work with me and i'll drink that at break. Other than that, i drink water at work, as we have our handy ESD-safe water bottles (probably hold what, maybe a litre? Not sure exactly... at least 25 ounces) and filling it gives me a few minutes where i don't have to do anything... Which of course, considering i fill my quota usually two and a half hours into my ten-hour day, no one seems to mind if i slack off occasionally.
But i digress. I end up drinking usually two full water bottles' worth of water while at work and one mountain dew. And then when i get home, i'm on to cranberry juice, as by that point i'm sick of water and i've definitely noticed that i've been sleeping better by cutting out the caffeine earlier in the day. All things that are healthy for me!
I've definitely been eating better as well; instead of buying SHIT from the vending machines twice a day (once per break... sometimes twice per break...), eating candy bars, chips, danishes... Shit full of fat and sugar, basically, i've been bringing my snacks with me. I've been eating Special K cereal bars a lot lately, which are surprisingly good... and this week, in lieu of those (and the cash required to buy them... sigh) i got little boxes of raisins to bring in. Which is good... i love raisins anyway!
Another help is that i've been eating breakfast, as well. :-)
And also instead of going to wendy's for lunch every day, i've been bringing a sandwich for lunch (also partly due to being broke...). All in all, it seems to be making a difference at least mentally, as i have felt better during work and attribute it to my changes in diet.
And starting tomorrow, i'm going to be riding my shiny new mountain bike to and from work every day, which will not only help me get into shape but save on gas as well... Which mostly helps my parents lately, as they're helping me out by lending me their speedpass again. And if i can help them by not having to use it, i'll feel better.
But yeah, so we bought the bikes on friday (mine is yellow!). Since then, i've managed to ride it around the parking lot at target to get a feel for it, up my street, and back on friday. Yesterday i went up monroe to culver, down culver to canterbury, and back to monroe, probably about a mile or so altogether. Today i wanted to do kind of a "dry run" to see how long it would take me to bike to work, just so i don't have to leave super-early and feel rushed tomorrow. Turns out the 2.5 mile trip to work takes me just under 16 minutes, which pleases me! This is only the second time i've really ridden a bike in i don't even remember how many years. After shaun and i road up to work, we decided to take a long route back home and it ended up being about a 7-mile ride today. I thought i was going to die! A good chunk of the ride was uphill, so i'm definitely glad i have a 21-speed bike, but still!! Holy out of cardio shape, batman! When i finally got home and cooled off i actually feel FANTASTIC though, so i'm overall still quite excited about riding to and from work every day. Hopefully this will finally be what i need to do to lose some fucking weight.
I've decided that once i make it to 150 pounds, i'm going to get a boob job. Kind of a special treat for a job well done, basically.
So yeah... I'm feeling good. :-)
As for a slightly unrelated, yet still on the same page of feeling good about myself, i've finally decided to go back to school... again. This time for engineering, which won't be as unsuccessful as all the rest because i actually want to do it, and no one is in the background telling me that i really ought to... I'm going to start with MCC, take a couple core classes, and once Harris actually hires me (and pays 50-75% of my tuition..) transfer to RIT.
I'm hopeful, because having already done the school thing once before, i have a lot of my core classes done. English 101, which seems to be a requirement EVERYWHERE for EVERYTHING (as we can tell, like i really needed it!) is taken care of, as is Calculus I (which actually isn't required for the electrical engineering associates, but if i'm going onto RIT i'm going to need as much calc as i can get...) and most likely all of my humanities/social science electives and my PE classes. So i should be able to jump right into electronics classes, which is what i'll need to be considered for a Manufacturing Technician A job at harris (which is a 2 dollar raise and a foot solidly in the door to being an engineer eventually!). So i'm excited about that as well, my supervisor seems to think there's a good chance i'll be capable. Personally, i KNOW i'm capable, but it's always a good thing with the higher-ups agree with you.
So yeah, there's my update... i've still got traces of the migraine that started on friday but hopefully by tomorrow it should be gone... I've stopped taking my meds for that because they make me all sorts of crazy, and i'd rather go through a little pain (ok... agonizing pain... but not all the time at least) than a lot of needless anxiety over nothing. So i'll be ending my blathering now, and while i no longer make promises about updating "tomorrow" or "every day", i'll be sure to do it again soon.
