Tooting my horn

Jan 23, 2008 23:01

My son received an N in music on his report card. N means not progressing. This is all due to the fact he is having to play the recorder and in his words he's "HORRIBLE!" How do I get upset about this? In fact I find it rather amusing. I'm probably partly to blame since I tell him he cannot play that thing any where that I can hear it. Sure this is depriving him of musical genius on his plastic flute but it maintains my sanity and non-head throbbing. Also I think grading children on playing a plastic toy is ridiculous and have ever since I had to play the damn thing. Apparently the whole 4th grade gets stressed out over whether they pass some recorder goal to get ribbons to tie on them. Alexander has no ribbons. Fortunately he could care less, or at least doesn't worry himself to death over it. My bosses son broke down because he didn't have ribbons. We are torturing our children and their mothers with senseless tooting! I'm starting a revolution. PUT DOWN YOUR RECORDERS AND JOIN ME!

In other revolutionary news, Emi's brownie troop sold over 1,200 boxes of girl scout cookies. Let the diabetes, tooth decay, and cellulite revolution begin! Viva las galletas!
