Thank you for my story. Interesting idea about John's backstory and his father -- I'm not sure I've read John's being gay as the reason for the estrangement before. And Carson was wonderful, of course.

I always thought the relationship between John and his father would be a difficult one because of a blow of fate (e.g. the death of John's mum) that kept them occupied with themselves while they should have cared about one another.
I'm not sure John being gay/bi is really that much of a problem for his father, but he and John aren't on good terms already.
Anger and sorrow can let a person say a lot of hurtful things they often don't even really mean.

Perhaps I'll need to write a sequel... *ponders*
