It wasn’t until it had begun to become dark outside that Alex finally knocked out of his trance, shaking his head as though that would help him focus on his rapidly darkening surroundings. He looked at his feet and his heart broke all over again as he spied Jack still curled in a ball, sleeping.
Alex instantly dropped so he was sitting on the floor, legs crossed Indian style in front of him and once settled he reached across to the sleeping boy and gently pulled him so Jack was cradled in the space between his legs, one of Alex’s arms around his shoulder holding him close, the other draped across his waist grasping at his hip. He placed a kiss to the top of Jacks head, and
then rested his own head on top of his black locks, where he soon joined him in blissful worry free sleep.

It was Jack that awoke first the next day, and he became momentarily disorientated as his brain processed the weight pressing on his head, the arms wrapped around him and also the fact that he had slept on the floor.
It took a few moments, but when the memories from the previous night finally made their way to the front of his memory a silent tear slid down his cheek before he quickly composed himself and wiped away the lone tear. “Don’t cry, not again” he told himself, “don’t become weak now.” He was about to start manoeuvring his way out of the grasp holding him down when he mentally slapped himself and forced himself to remember that things were different now, he doesn’t know why but they are, and he instantly found himself deciding that he didn’t care either, all that mattered is that Alex was back, and he was going to be there for him again no matter what. So with that thought he halted his previous movements and instead snuggled himself closer to Alex’s chest, drifting back off to sleep just seconds after closing his eyes again.
***
It was Alex who awoke next, some two hours after Jacks awakening, and he instantly smiled at the sleeping man still curled into his front. He shifted himself so Jack was slightly leaning forward, allowing Alex to remove his supporting from around his shoulders and reach into his own pocket to retrieve his phone and check the time. 12PM. Upon realising just how long they had been sleeping, Alex slid his phone back in to his pocket and returned his arm to its previous position before slowly rubbing his arm in order to gently coax Jack out of sleep.
It took a few minutes of persuasion but eventually his eyes began to flutter as reality brought him back, due to his previous awakening Jack was already refamiliarised with his surroundings so instead of freaking out, this time he instantly relaxed even further into Alex’s touch, causing aforementioned boy to begin grinning like a Cheshire cat at the contact.
“Morning, Sleeping Beauty” Alex cooed.
“Mmm...morning.” Jacks voice still groggy with sleep.
“As much as I love sitting here with you, you need to get up or I’m gunna piss myself.” Jack laughed at his friends’ bluntness whilst deciding he would rather not be covered in Alex’s urine, so complied with his wishes and raised unsteadily to his feet as the consequences of sleeping on the floor crept up on him.
“Go and pee, my good Sir!” Jack yelled in an authoritive manner whilst standing shakily to attention, causing Alex to giggle whilst running outside to relieve himself.
Jack took the few minutes of Alex’s absence to take a few deep breaths and really process what had just happened between the pair in the past day. “I told him, I told him and he didn’t run away.” he kept thinking to himself, and before he knew it a grin had made its way across his face, and he was so caught up in his thoughts he didn’t even realise that Alex had returned and was now stood right in front of his face, just admiring his features.
They stood there for a few more minutes until Alex finally decided that he had thoroughly committed his features to memory he decided to gently rub his hand up and down Jacks arm, slowly coaxing him back out of whatever magical place he was currently roaming through in his head. It took a few seconds, but Jacks eyes slowly begin to focus again and he shook his head abruptly as if to vaporise the thoughts from his head.
When he saw Alex stood before him his smile grew impossibly wider. “Hi.” He muttered.
“Well, hello there” he grinned back whilst wiggling his eyebrows.
In an instant the smile had gone from Jacks face, instantly replaced by a look full of sadness and despair as he sighed heavily. Alex’s expression mirrored Jacks almost instantly as he flew into panic mode, “Jack? Jack what’s wrong?” he questioned, arms flying around the younger’s shoulders within seconds, “Why do you look like that, Jack? What’s wrong?”
“I just- I just missed you, that’s all.” Jack had replied so quietly it was almost inaudible; it was becoming a habit between the pair - talking almost too quietly for the other to hear. The words barely had time to leave his mouth before Alex was putting all of his strength into bringing Jack crashing into his chest and trapping him in a bone crushing hug.
“You’re never, ever losing me again, d’ya hear me? Never.” He spoke directly into Jacks hair, causing the words to become muffled, and it’s doubtful that had anyone else been there they would have been able to comprehend what had just been said. But Jack understood. He understood loud and clear, and the words only encouraged the underlying tears to break through his boundaries and flow down his face and onto the olders shirt.
“Hey, hey don’t cry, look at me.” Alex curled his index finger around Jacks chin and lifted his head up so he was looking into his eyes, “Everything is going to be okay, Jack. I promise. No more crying, okay?”
Jack gave a small nod in agreement before closing his eyes and taking a few deep breaths. Alex knew he was preparing him for something, so he continued to stay still, allowing Jack the time he needed to compose himself.
“I love you, ‘Lex.”
Alex pulled Jack crashing back in to his chest and for a moment Jack was almost sure he wasn’t planning on letting go, but then he decided, he wouldn’t care if he had to stay wrapped in his arms for the rest of his life, because it would mean that Alex hadn’t ran away.
“I love you too, Jacky, so, so much.”
CHAPTER FIVE.
CHAPTER SEVEN. Authors Note:
I've come to the conclusion that shorter chapters are easier for me to write, so chances are from now on they'll be about this length, meaning that they should come more frequently, -fingers crossed-
