This got long. Sorry. >__>a (I should probably post seperately more often.)

Guess who got her copies of Saiyuki 7 and RELOAD 1 in the mail today? *dances* Though, I was reading 7 and 8 the other night and I continue to think that the licensed versions change the tone of the language just subtly enough that I don't like them as well as I liked the scanslations. Especially Sanzo's tone of voice, it's just too... slang and something else.

Hanakimi's translations seem to be better, but I'm still "...." at the random usage of honorifics. With Akiha and Umeda's first meeting in volume 9, he just says "Umeda", but when he comes for coffee later, he says, "I wanted to see you, Senpai!" Mizuki just calls him "Akiha", but she sometimes just says "Umeda", too. Like, in the scene where she's asking Akiha, "Don't you like Umeda?" when I'm pretty sure it should have been "Umeda-sensei" or "Dr. Umeda".

Outside the school, Akiha tells Sano not to call him "man", it's "Mr. Hara" and I think Nanba may have called him that in the first photo shoot scene, but there aren't really any other references. I know there was one other thing that I thought was kind of strange, but I can't recall it now.

I am terribly confused about what they actually call each other now. ;___;

http://store.yahoo.com/wizarduniverse/aug030289.html - Whyyyyyyyyy must this be so expensive? *weeps* This, on the other hand, is awesome for entirely different reasons. I am so tempted to get it and give it to a Certain Person for her Christmas gift. Ooh, there are also Knightfall figures, neat.

Though, really? If my flist honestly loved me, they'd get me these. *drools on self*

This is a really bad cover. I love you, JLA, but what the hell?

Switching gears randomly, I've been reading up about the whole House of M/Avengers Dissasembled/Planet X/etc. thing on Wikipedia and... I think it makes sense in my head, but, wow, do I not want to read that, man. The whole Xorn thing was cool when the character was first introduced (I think it was in an annual? I just remember drooling over the art when I was flipping through the pages in the store and had to immediately buy it.), but the whole Magneto thing... then Xorneto... then imposters and the Sublime (or whatever) force and Jean coming back and leaving again and the Stepford Cuckoos and so much other stuff... yeah, not reading that.

I'll probably read from House of M on, though. I'm not sure why, mostly just 'cause I'm curious and it's a relatively easy point to step back into the series, after catching up on summaries.

....and then I read the "Here Comes Tomorrow" summary and what the HELL, Marvel? Timeline weirdness and Jean healing the timeline and pushing Scott to accept Emma's affections and WTF? *rubs temples* I haven't been awake nearly long enough/I've been awake far too long to process this shit. I mean. I guess it sort of makes sense for the Scott/Emma thing, but you cannot convince me it's anything other than a retcon. A batshit retcon at that. (Skimming through the entry for Endsong, though, I see Greg Land did the art? Huh? I thought he was exclusive to CrossGen? Or did they finally go under? *googles* Shit, they did. Over year ago, too. Which is sort of too bad, their art was pretty. But this isn't terribly surprising news to me, I didn't really think they'd succeed.)

As a final note, I was thinking earlier... if Kory is joining the Outsiders (Hasn't she shown up recently, too? I'm still catching up.), I give it about six months before we get Dick/Kory happenings. Is it bad if I'm looking forward to the possibility? I miss Dick romance/flirting. ;___; (And, no, Outsiders #11 does not count.)

(And, yes. I'm still cautiously doing my happy dance that Devin Grayson's run will be ending soon.)
