30 day challenge answers, day 07 + day 08

I have a bit of an odd question--does anyone have any recurring stress dreams? Any themes that usually pop up? I get the teeth falling out thing and it always kind of freaks me out a little. I also think this is a sucky coping method, brain. So, I'm already dealing with a lot of stress and you think it's a good idea to give me dreams that terrify and stress the crap out of me on top of everything else? Boo. Boo.

I skipped yesterday, so I'll do two days here today instead. And then talk probably a lot about the latest Adventure Time.

30 DAY SAILOR MOON CHALLENGE - Day 07 - Prettiest/most handsome character:
I'm going to go with both. Most handsome is definitely Mamoru, because not even the anime could make him completely unhot, no matter how hard they tried. And he was just completely perfect in the manga, right down to the clothes that Naoko chose for him. I loved the quiet intensity of his character, the way he was very stoic and so very Japanese, but you could just look at him and feel the still waters that ran deep. As for prettiest character, I suppose it depends on the anime or the manga. There are certain scenes where I think Rei is just gorgeous in the anime and Michiru gets some really beautiful scenes, too. But overall, I think Usagi is the prettiest. She's beautiful in the manga, she's so elegant and lovely even when she's stumbling, when she's trembling or holding herself still or fighting back or just loving everyone with all her heart. All of it is beautiful.

30 DAY FINAL FANTASY CHALLENGE - Day 07 - Least favourite part of your favourite Final Fantasy game:
Still FFCC:TCB and it's still the gameplay aspect of it, how difficult it was to grab nearly anything and aim with any kind of accuracy on the level that I wanted to. Picking up your enemies with the Wiimote was a neat idea, especially since that's how Layle's powers worked, but in practice it was just one big frustration for me.

30 DAY MARVEL CHALLENGE - Day 07 - Your favorite creature:
I dunno, Lockjaw, I guess? Only because I like the Inhumans and Lockjaw is protective of Luna.

30 DAY OKAMI CHALLENGE - Day 07 - Favorite Boss?:
Waka, I think. Probably I'm influenced by how much I like Waka in general and how easy that fight was (since it was early in the game), but I actually really enjoyed it. My second favorite was probably Crimson Helm, because I liked being able to fight from a distance more (and you got an awesome rosary beads upgrade after him!) but mostly the only boss fight I actually looked forward to was Waka.

30 DAY ADVENTURE TIME CHALLENGE - Day 07 - Favorite villain:
Is it cheating to say Ice Queen, even if the Ice King is my least favorite? Generally, I'm not as big on the villains, I'm just here for the main trio of Finn, Marceline, and Princess Bubblegum. Oh, and Jake! Jake can totally stay. And B-Mo when he gets the occasional moment of awesome in. But mostly I kind of really loved the Ice Queen as a villain a lot.

30 DAY SHIPPING CHALLENGE - Day 07 - The most heartbreaking scene:
I'm going to say all of the Stars manga in Sailor Moon, where Usagi is missing Mamoru and blocks his death out of her memory and every time it starts to bubble back up to the surface and she starts screaming to block it out. Just. To love someone THAT MUCH, to repress it back so that you don't even remember it, to know how alone and terrified Usagi must have felt during those months, it just breaks my heart.

30 DAY ICHIHIME CHALLENGE - Day 07 - A song you would personally dedicate to Orihime:
I'm still not doing songs, so instead! IchiHime wedding fanart by persona92 who is far and away my favorite fanartist in this fandom.

30 DAY SAILOR MOON CHALLENGE - Day 08 - Favorite villain:
I'm going to give two answers here, because there's two ways for me to answer that. My fannish favorite is definitely Zoisite, who I love for being a fierce little motherfucker and for being vain about his beautiful, for being surprisingly human underneath, for genuinely loving Kunzite. But mostly just for being vicious and amazing to watch. My favorite villain in terms of who I think was just an amazingly written character is definitely Galaxia in the manga. I love Naoko's writing, but I do think her villains tended to suffer because she never gave them much screentime or characterization. Not that Galaxia really got a ton of screentime, either, but Naoko really had improved so much by then (she improved in terms of giving the rest of the Sailor Senshi more screentime, too) that you could read a lot more into the little things with Galaxia. She was genuinely frightening, how she wasn't just trying to defeat Usagi, she was trying to crush her, and it was chilling how much she put Usagi through. The battle scenes were incredible, the way Naoko's scope grew to be even more epic was fantastic! Just looking at some of those battles in space, you could feel the vastness of them, almost a little dizzy when you tried to imagine yourself in Usagi's place. Galaxia was definitely the best villain in terms of story, imo.

30 DAY FINAL FANTASY CHALLENGE - Day 08 - Favourite Chocobo Version:
Probably the FFXII or FFXIII chocobos. Not that they're really that different, but I was always impressed by the detail on them and how gorgeous they looked when you rode them or ran into them. Chocobos have always been cute (and the Chocobo Tales games are SO DARLING) but those things were kinda badass.

30 DAY MARVEL CHALLENGE - Day 08 - Your favorite movie:
Oh, um. I don't think I like any of them enough to say they were my favorite. I liked many aspects of the first X-Men movie, but I was enraged by how much of it spilled over into the comics and how much they changed and what they did to Rogue. It's one of the few universes where I still like Scott and Scott/Jean, but that's not enough to balance out how much I hate what they did to Rogue and, to some degree, Ororo. I liked the Wolverine Origins movie because there were fewer characters to fuck up and I loooooooved their Gambit, but, christ, I hated that they messed with the timeline by putting him so early in it. Remy is about the same age Rogue is, he's probably a little younger than Scott and Jean and that era of characters! Bleh. And I didn't care enough about the other Marvel movies I've seen and I haven't seen Iron Man or Captain America or X-Men: First Class (UGH, THAT IS NOT FIRST CLASS, I AM IRRATIONALLY ANGRY ABOUT THIS) so maybe I'll like them more, idk.

30 DAY OKAMI CHALLENGE - Day 08 - Least favorite boss?:
OROCHI. FUCKING OROCHI. THREE FUCKING TIMES IN ONE GAME. THREE TIMES. I can give some leeway to the idea of making you fight a bunch of the previous bosses before you go on to Yami. Okay, whatever, it'll pad the game out a little, I can understand. But you had to fight Orochi three times in the course of the game and it was the same fight each time. I replayed much of the game, so I wound up fighting him two more times than I should have and THAT IS TOO MANY.

30 DAY ADVENTURE TIME CHALLENGE - Day 08 - Why you like Adventure Time:
Because it's like all the best parts of the internet rolled up into one adorable cartoon show! It makes me laugh, it's surprisingly awesome in terms of not making me want to put my fist through a wall, it has amazing characters, and it's so creative and adorable without being the "look! look! we're trying so very hard!" type of random. It just works.

30 DAY SHIPPING CHALLENGE - Day 08 - The pairing with the most baggage:
So many choices! I'm tempted to say Yuki/Shuuichi from Gravitation or Sephiroth/Cloud from Final Fantasy VII, both of which immediately came to mind. But I think Seishirou/Subaru still beats them out, just for sheer length of time that their fuckery went on. Seishirou was a true sociopath, one who marked Subaru from the time he was a child, who inserted himself into Subaru's life and wound him around his little finger, and then broke him again and again, until Seishirou used Subaru to basically commit suicide and there is just no going back after all of that. Many of the other ships that I like, if you gave them enough therapy or stuck them on a deserted island to keep external forces away, I can see them becoming more healthy than they were in their canons. But not this ship. Their baggage is forever. (Which is what makes it so fascinating, because the narrative was always very clear that this is a deeply fucked up relationship and Seishirou is not a nice person. At all.)

30 DAY ICHIHIME CHALLENGE - Day 08 - A song you would personally dedicate to Ichigo:

So, I watched Adventure Time - What Was Missing in full now, instead of just the five minute preview thing and, oh, my. SPOILERS for this episode!

If I weren't already shipping Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, I certainly would have been after this episode! I've never minded shipping Finn with either of them, even if I've been hesitant to really get into either one, because Finn is 13 and the age differences definitely squick me. I like that this episode has a nod to how he feels that, he feels how they look at him as being younger, because he is. And it's not that I want to shut Finn out because, oh, I love him so much.

But Marceline and Princess Bubblegum! Even when it was just that one brief moment of interaction, you could just tell how amazing their chemistry would be together. And then this episode happened! And it was amazing! Amazing!! All those feelings Marceline had bottled up inside her because of Princess Bubblegum were what really sold me, because she's always been so cool and laid-back before. There are few things that really rile her up on a genuine level, aside from her father and the tension there. But she burst out with this intense song that clearly showed how long those feelings had been simmering inside her, and just. Oh. I am so very weak to ships that are based on those kind of intense feelings that you don't necessarily always show.

Then the ending, where we see Princess Bubblegum's keepsake was the t-shirt that Marceline gave her, that she wears as pjs, oh my goodness.

Feelings all over the place! All of them! Inside me!

Plus, it's been amazing to watch the fandom just explode on tumblr! It's been so exciting to think that maybe we might actually get some lesbians on a children's show! I want it so badly! And I want to believe that the explosion of love on tumblr means that there really are a signifigant amount of people out there who want it, too, that there are a lot more people than I would have thought who would be totally okay with two girls being in love on a cute kids' show, just like they'd be fine with a girl and a boy being in love (or two boys being in love). But, even if it doesn't go any further than this, even if it's just the possibility of feelings being there (hopefully on the same level as Finn's feelings for Princess Bubblegum are), I will be delighted to dive into fandom and just roll around in all the amazing fanart. It's been a glorious couple of days omg. *__*

Bah, I feel like this is only a fraction of the things I wanted to say! But words!! Too hard!! Too many feelings to translate into words!!
