how he tries really seriously and in that segment in particular (the bow-tie), he was actually really hurt by what was said about his outfit choice.

I know I tend to be over-sensitive about Jun because he's my favorite and I probably read too much into things sometimes, but... the way you could see him shut down during the criticism for it, not even bitching back or giggling over his own fail, just went sort of shuttered, agreed with everything they said, and the smile didn't quite reach his eyes, that was what made me think his hurt was genuine. And Jun tends to take things way too seriously and fashion is something that he's supposed to be really good at, you know?

Which is why I don't understand him lately. My best guess is that his tastes are kind of changing, he's going for a bit more of a funky (or maybe quirky) look and choosing clothes in that vein, but that's not the style Arashi's audience really goes for. To be honest, I think if he went in on auto-pilot to just choose something decent (like the clothes he regularly wears during any given shown--haven't they all said before that Jun chooses his own clothes for their shows, rather than letting the stylist dress him? I think they said that on Shukudai-kun somewhere) he would do really well. And yet he doesn't! I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, MATSUMOTO.

VSA has been really good about bringing the Ohno/Jun lately, completely agreed! Not that Jun isn't always a squishie for Ohno, but VSA has really been bringing it lately and I WOULD LIKE MOAR PLZ. ESPECIALLY OF THE PORN VARIETY.
