Summer 2010 anime season blogging

Jul 11, 2010 06:38

The new anime season is upon us and I have to admit. With one or two exceptions, it is not looking that thrilling, especially not after following up the awesome spring season. Thus, I need to get myself motivated--both to catch up on the spring season and to get in gear with the summer season. Thus, I am going to do my best to get 100 episodes ( Read more... )

aww, you're not watching what I'm watching this season. :\ SO THAT MEANS YOU SHOULD TOTALLY SEE OOKAMI-SAN TO SHICHININ NO NAKAMATACHI. ♥

I've only just gotten started! XD Ookami-san is the one I had next on my list to give a shot, actually! Is it good then?

(It's these ones, High School of the Dead, and Sengoku Basara that I want to check out this season. Then I'll wait to see if anything else gets really good buzz or at least looks pretty.)

YES. the characters all have a unique personality especially that one guy there who's gifted in stealth but developed ophthalmophobia in the process. :DD IT'S AWESOME. please try it as soon as you can! there's already 2 episodes subbed.

aside from Ookami-san, I tried Mitsudomoe and Seitokai Yakuindomo. Mitsudomoe is hilarious but is so wrong. SERIOUSLY. my mind can't grasp why the characters there think like that! and I have to yet watch the pilot of Seitokai Yakuindomo (YES I AM LOOKING AT YOU DOWNLOADED FILE). :D

Having looked at reviews for Mitsudomoe, I am frightened now. XD I am vaguely curious about it, because "wrong" equals "potentially interesting" in my head (one too many shows like Narutaru have warped me, I fear), but I still fear.

Though, at this rate, I'm never going to get caught up on all this anime. ^_~

YOU SHOULD BE. I was laughing my head off while watching but I just can't seem to enjoy it fully without feeling some moral guilt.

HAHA this so much. I've been downloading older series and the like as well. :(

Okay, I've got the first episode now but... but... I'm scared to watch it yet. I'll have to wait until the dark of night, when no one else is around to potentially see me watching the wrongness. .__.b

There are so many series that I've always wanted to finish, dozens of them by now, but I can't help it! Sometime, when we weren't looking, anime got really good again!

HAHA. MAKE SURE YOU ARE ALONE, or else... *shifty eyes* I'm still undecided whether I should continue watching it or not. :\

oh gosh, me too! I'm trying to catch up with animes from past seasons and years! but really, here in the Philippines, we get to watch lots of anime titles but I really don't like dubbed ones so I stick with downloading anyway. I'm surprised myself that I got back into the anime fandom after so many years of not really paying attention to it. IT'S A GOOD THING TO BE BACK. ♥

I really think there was a period of time where anime just wasn't that good anymore. Part of it was the glut of WJ series and how the anime adaptations of those were rather lackluster, but because they were so popular in the US, you couldn't go anywhere without seeing them. But, once that calmed down a little, genuinely refreshing, interesting series started to pop back up again and suddenly, over the last couple of years, things got really good again! (Or at least that's how it was for me. I think the glut thing gets us all at some point, though.)

This season has been a little disappointing again, but... hell, we need some breather room to catch up on older series. Though, MAL should be stricken from the net--do you know how many times I've gone to update my list and thought, oh, let me just see what other recommendations there are for this series... and then somehow walked away with five more series to check out because I remember, OH YEAH THAT ONE LOOKED INTERESTING!...? orz

YOU WATCHED OOKAMI-SAN NOW. YAY. I read your latest post. :) I have the second episode now but I have yet to watch because I had to put off everything I'm watching atm due to the world cup (but then it was all worth it because Spain won!). 8D I can't wait to see more development in the story, especially Ryoushi's and the unveiling of the other companions and their 'powers'.

the WJ series are actually quite fun, for me. they make reading the manga more exciting since it usually fails in the anime adaptation but kicks ass in the manga. ^_^;

yes, I kind of felt the same. there are a number of anime titles from last season have been carried over to this season hence the lesser number of new titles, plus there's anime sequels too! HAHA. I kind of read manga obsessively at some point in time so that's where I get my recs from if they do ever get a tv adaptation.

I am delighted by Ookami-san! FAIRY TALES OMG I LOVE FAIRY TALES SO MUCH! But also I really like Ryouko as a character and the fight scenes are fantastic and I'm genuinely curious about the rest of the group, too! And I want to see if they get fairy tale backgrounds as well! Like, is Alice who we're all thinking of?

Oh, man, I love WJ manga and eat it up like it's delicious candy! But (with only two exceptions--One Piece and Hunter x Hunter) I almost never touch the anime adaptations because they're either boring or just god-awful. Nobody does filler well (except maybe One Piece, occasionally) and the only good thing about them is seeing fight scenes in action.

I still have Durarara!!, Arakawa Under the Bridge, House of Five Leaves, Uraboku, Working!!, Hakuouki, and Senkou no Night Raid. And I was really thinking about trying Kaichou wa Maid-sama! and Heroman sometime, too. Oh and Yojo-han Shinwa Taikei got awesome reviews, so I've put that on my list, too. .... ;___;

I LOVE HER KITTY GLOVES AND KITTY PUNCH. I'd definitely want one if it existed in real life! I'm going to watch the second episode tonight. haha. studying be damned. XD

I loved the zanpakutou-turned-real people arc in Bleach at first, but then as the episodes progressed, the storyline just effed up. :< it usually leaves me disappointed too but the action scenes are just so much better in anime. XD

I currently have Dennou Coil, Haibane Renmei, Hidamari Sketch, Kaichou wa Maid-sama, Mitsudomoe, Ookami-san, and Seitokai Yakuindomo on my to-watch list. I recently finished the first season of K-On!, Nodame Cantabile season 2 and 3, and Welcome to NHK. I'm currently thinking about re-watching the whole Cardcaptor Sakura series and the second season of K-On! I'll look up the ones you mentioned and hopefully one of them piques my interest.

I love that the wolf has the kitty gloves and kitty punch! It's just another one of those little ways the show is hilariously great! (I totally want more of Majou's batshit crazy to show up!)

I never got past more than five episodes of the Bleach anime before I was like, "Screw this noise, I am not watching an anime that clearly dislikes my favorite character. >:|" and huffed my way back to the manga. XDDD

Oh, man, I've seen so very little on your to-watch list, but I did watch Haibane Renmei, which I really liked! It's very low-key, but that worked for me in that series, because it had such a beautiful art style. But if we're extending back beyond just last season, my main ones are... *thinks* Darker Than Black, Princess Tutu, Guin Saga, Escaflowne, Baccano!, Pandora Hearts, Claymore, Eureka 7, Blood+, Casshern SINS, Moyashimon, Toradora!, and Witch Hunter Robin. Oh, and Mononoke and ~Ayakashi~, too!

....THIS IS WHY WE NEVER CATCH UP. XD

I'm still not through Haibane Renmei but I do agree that the art is just beautiful! I love the gracefulness of the wings! I downloaded Baccano! before but I haven't seen a single episode of it yet (MAJOR FAIL) and it went directly to a burned DVD. :3 I want to see Moyashimon for some reason, I haven't read the manga though. Toradora! was shown here and I was able to see a number of episodes.

And I'm interested in Arakawa under the Bridge and it's now on my download queue. thanks!

I have a friend who keeps saying that Moyashimon was really good and she's made me super curious about it! Plus, LIVE ACTION ADAPTATION! I have no idea if it's any good or not, but it's definitely made me curious.

How was Toradora! for you then? I've heard good things, but it didn't seem to get a major amount of buzz, so I wasn't sure.

OOH, LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF ARAKAWA UNDER THE BRIDGE WHEN YOU GET A CHANCE. :D :D
