You shouldn't ever feel badly about only responding to parts of any given entry or things I talk about! Part of the reason I break the post up into sections is to make it easier to focus on just one part of the contents and, hell, it's not like I don't welcome comments that only talk about Arashi. Those are absolutely fine, so don't worry about it ever. ♥

re: SMILE - Hm, well. My instincts say that The Quiz Show is going to be next season's UtaOni in the sense that it'll be what everyone is talking about, more than SMILE will be. And if you like Sho better than Jun (which I will never understand the heathens of fandom who feel that way, what is wrong with you people u__u), you should go for the one that you'll probably enjoy more. If nothing else, SMILE will be there once you finish your final semester and you can pick it up again later. Or just wait and see which one gets the better reviews, I suppose?

I suspect I'll like Sho's drama better as a drama, but the overall experience of Jun's drama is the one I'm really looking forward to. But, well. Favorites will do that to a person. And yes I'm really pleased with how healthy Jun looks lately! He does seem to have put on a bit of weight, but it doesn't look bad on him at all, it looks great and I'm kind of finding myself attracted-attracted to him lately.

re: Uta no Onii-san - Sousuke and Haruki were definitely lacking in characterization, which means we don't really know how much they were involved in kicking Kenta out of the band or even if they were really all that close to Kenta before this happened. But you're right that they come off as very sheep-like here, just following everyone else around all the time and you kind of get why Anzai doesn't really want them. And why he got rid of Kenta first--because Kenta was the one that could have caused him problems, while these two are easy to push around. Look at how easily he manipulated them around, while Kenta goes right to him and gets in his face.

I also totally agree that I think the apology from Kenta was totally unnecessary and kind of made me frustrated/angry on his behalf, because as;dlfkjasl;kj NO, YOU GUYS. After the way they kicked him out, he did not owe them any sort of apology like that! But I can't blame Sousuke and Haruki for it, because they didn't ask for it. I do wonder how much they came to Kenta because they only wanted Akane back (which I find just as disasteful as you do) and how much they asked him back because their band was falling apart and they realized that maybe Kenta could have held it together. Like, it wasn't so much that he'd get Akane back as that he would put them all back together, which is the impression I came away with. Otherwise, why not only ask him to help them find Akane and bring her back?

Their hesitant body language kind of makes me think that they both realized what they were asking and that it really was about Kenta himself. Like, they wanted him to come back and fight for them, because they couldn't stand up to Anzai themselves and they figured Kenta was the one who would fight for their band/keep them together/keep them moving forward. (I could buy this, especially given how the flashbacks often showed Kenta as one of the movers and shakers of the band.)

But, of course, without more characterization, it's all just speculation. I'm super glad to not be the only one in the middle on them, though! ♥

Re SMILE - The reason why I'd rather watch Sho's drama than Jun's has actually less to do with one being my favourite and more with me being more interested in mystery-drama than in drama-drama, which means that I would watch SMILE pretty much only for Jun. ^^"

(On that note, the favourite thing is kind of hard, especially when it comes to Sho and Jun, because it's kind of - Ohno's my favourite, because he's special *cough* and yes, this comes from someone who studies special needs education *cough*, but apart from that it can be really hard to decide on a favourite, because often it's Sho; except that then Jun will do something like light up at his stupid bandmates antics and I'll love him to tiny little pieces even more than I love Sho. ^-^ It sort of wavers between - well, all of them, but mostly between Jun and Sho.)

I'm really happy at the way Jun looks at the moment! Especially since I don't feel all those "I WANT TO FEED YOU A SANDWICH" urges in me when he looks like this. XD (Though Matsujun could never put on too much weight for me, until he was round as a barrel, I think. ;P) Now the only one left is Nino, who I regularly get frustrated at, because even when the others are telling him to eat on the shows, I've noticed that he'll often only eat half, or maybe a third of what they gave him, which, seeing as their portions aren't all that large (...except for Aiba's, whose appetite I love), means that despite all their urgings, he's still careful to eat as very little as possible on their shows, which doesn't really seem very normal to me, not in someone as thin as him. :(

(Yes, I have "I want to feed you" issues. ^-^)

Re UnO: You're right, with their lack of characterization, their motivation isn't all that clear, so they might have come to Kenta because they realized that he could have held their band together. I certainly like that idea better, so I kind of hope for it. ^^" I guess the reason why I felt it was more the other thing was that the very first thing they asked him, when they came to him, was whether he knew where Akane was, which kind of made her seem the topic that the whole conversation was about. ^^"

I think UnO has been rather good at putting a "grey" area into all of the characters - something I certainly hadn't expected when I started the show! I thought it would be just another silly comedy. ^-^

Somebody else who wants to feed Nino! I wanted to smack him on the second eco special--the first dish, with the deep-fried bread? The each got a thin little strip and Nino ate half of his. I want to shove fattening foods into that kid so bad.

I mean, he doesn't look skeletal or unhealthy and Nino knows Nino best and I understand what he means by not being that interested in food but a;ldkfjdk MY GOD, CHILD. When Matsumoto Jun is telling you to eat and is worrying about your food intake, YOU HAVE A PROBLEM. He is underweight and I want to feed him so badly. I want his bandmates to poke food into him until he's ready to puke.

a;sdlkfjaslkj I want to feed a lot of Japan a lot of the time, but Nino (and Jun before he gained a little weight recently and looks so much better) really brings out this urge to tie him to a chair twice a day and make him eat.

I get all the reasons why I shouldn't worry, Nino knows Nino best, his bandmates are there for him and will help him, I know that some people are just built skinny, I know that just because we don't see him eat on television doesn't mean he doesn't eat in his own time (sometimes I worry that what we see them eat on Shukudai-kun counts as an entire meal for them, which as;ldkfja;slkj no, you guys! No.), but still.

And I know people have been skinnier than Nino is and been just fine, but it's not even about weight so much as it is YOUR BODY NEEDS FUEL TO FUNCTION. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HAVE A SUPER ACTIVE SCHEDULE, NINO. And I worry that he's the kind who'll not take enough care of himself DESPITE THAT HE SHOULD KNOW BETTER. At least Matsumoto, for all his tendency towards skinniness, knows to keep an eye on his health!

I really want to feed Nino. :/ I mean, I generally want to feed people, but I actually worry about Nino's lack of food being unhealthy for him. (Kind of like the little boy in the school I did my last internship at, who fainted occasionally, because he forgot to drink.) And - well, if the rumours are true, Nino's a rather heavy smoker, and that might actually contribute to a lack of appetite which, added to his mentioned lack of interest in food, might actually keep him from eating even when his body needs it. :(

Luckily he needs a certain amount of muscle mass and general level of energy to get through their concerts, so I'm sure people are watching over his food intake, and also luckily he's in a band with four people who appreciate food (even Jun enjoys what he eats - imagine if he'd been in a band with another person who shared his complete lack of interest in food, they might encourage his behaviour), but that doesn't change the fact that I want to feed him on a regular basis. ^^"

re: SMILE - Well, I will definitely agree that I think The Quiz Show will be the stronger drama itself of the two, while the promotion for SMILE may be more fun. I mean, SMILE might surprise us, I certainly wouldn't have picked some of my recent favorites ahead of time! But my instincts still stay The Quiz Show will be the better drama (if you're like me and the "typical" drama style doesn't do much for you--if I want romance, I want FULL ON SHOUJO, Japan!), so, yeah.

Though, it's neat to hear that you sort of waver between Sho and Jun as your second favorite, they aren't two that I usually see people wavering between. Not that any of us should ever have to choose a favorite, but it's always interesting to me to know who people have as their first/second favorite. ♥

I occasionally still worry about Jun, because it's so easy to slide back into bad habits, but I also know that he's really health-conscious and he's been at a decent weight for awhile now, so I'm okay with him. Aiba I worry about sometimes because I worry that he'll feel pressure to stop eating, but won't slow down, so he'll lapse back into being too skinny again. Ohno and Sho I worry about when they have dramas, how hard they'll push themselves, but I also know they like to eat, so they're not going to stop for long. Nino's the one you have to worry about, yeah. Especially because I worry that he will deliberately ignore when HE DAMN WELL KNOWS he should eat, but just won't, because he's stubborn.

re: UtaOni - It's interesting how people can watch the same scene and come away with different responses like this! I doubt we'll ever know for sure and, hell, it could be somewhere in between our two theories, it might have been a little bit of both reasons. But the show has been so good about everything else that I really want to believe the best of it with everyone. o/
