So, after Arashi was on Haneru no Tobira, Wolfie mentioned that Inocchi and Nagano had been on the show previously and I was so enamored with the show that I had to go
watch it. And it is pretty great and I was LOL'ing at several points

It would have been just as easy, I suppose, for Yaguruma to pick up the charm and given it back to Kageyama but I think he was jealous of it, too. I like my tinhat. It picks up the 'hot guys' channel.
kind of have the feeling that, the crazier Tendou gets in the head, the bigger his hair gets
You know, I LIKE the way you think. Plus it goes well with the shirt-sleeves theory.
Kagami/Renge would be awesome in the way that Tsurugi/Juka would be awesome. Tendou would have this face and Renge would still give Kagami headaches (and I love Yuuki for having different headache faces for Tendou and Renge, I might add) and they would be almost half-cute and completely half-dysfunctional.
Kabuto's Level Ups: I will never, ever not laugh at that sword. Every time I see it I go :D :D :D at it because it is the most awesomely platic-toy-that-we're-pretending-is-not-a-plastic-toy EVER.
I think someone probably should smack me now
If I hit you, you'll have to hit me. Hard, because I nod along going 'omg, that's so totally it'. I also think you're right about this. Gatack is inherently stronger and--when his Rider is finally ready, finally strong enough inside--then he goes out and lays waste to shit. Kabuto, on the other hand, has a Rider who is really awesome to start but then--because of his crazy--makes some really damn serious demands on himself. So Kabuto breaks out the Level Ups. And it's a collaborative effort between the Rider and the Zector--Tendou knows what he NEEDS and Kabuto gets it to him, somehow.
Like, you know, a really hot Kagami finally losing some sleeves.
What? It's what I would want from my Zector.
But overall this is one of those funny episodes that does some awesome character work that isn't all about ZECT's plans. Sort of like the Iron Chef episodes that packed in some big things. This time it was Kagami's turn. (And you're right about the baseball thing--we find out it was important to him with Ryou and then later again with his dad so Kagami is both lolarious AND still acting in a way that's in line with who the character is.)
I think my favorite part was the way Kagmai steps out of the bus and just...he's got this 'I refuse to lose,' look. I mean, it was awesome that Tendou trusted him to protect Juka and then Kagami--in turn--trusts Renge (which, again, Tendou's closest ties to the 'other' people in his life are through Kagami in some ways) but Kagami gets off the bus and you know he's not going to give up and he's not going to lose. He trusts his backup but, more importantly, he trusts that he can do what he's doing.
Which is important to show, I think, because Tendou is going to LOSE that in himself. And so far we've seen how Tendou's 'master of the universe' thing works, how that saves so many people, but now we get to see Kagami's version of it and it's NOT master of the universe but it gets the job done.
And now that I think about it, this is just another way that Kagami and Tendou feed into each other (shown in reverse by Little Bitch and Big Brother, too). Tendou trusts Kagami to take care of Juka and the other kids so Kagami is able to have that same trust in himself. When Tendou loses it, Kagami is there and he's so sure of himself, of his own power and he is SO certain of Tendou that Tendou...picks himself up and is back to his 'ruler of all, path of Heaven' self.
Stay tuned for the next episode and my thoughts on Daisuke and Gon? Orz

Aside from that Ohno's little 'you should be nice to me on tv' was just so very SQUEE. He had this look like 'I'm gonna stand up for myself!' when he started and then, by the end, he's sort of 'omg plz?' Poor baby getting laughed at IN THE FACE by Matsumoto Jun. And then Sho is ON THE GROUND and CLUTCHING HIS SIDES. God, I love this band so much.
AIBA/NINO TOUCHING. I SAW THAT. (I...I kinda think Nino is a total whore for his bandmates. Like, if there is any member of Arashi who is sleeping with all of them, it's got to be Nino.) FANDOM, DON'T MAKE ME COME AFTER YOU.
Shukudai: ARASHI/WATER GUNS OTP. Also, Nino was cute as a girl! I watched it and I thought 'damn, he IS a good actor--he's JUST like one of those girls in a drama with the little fidgets and the little smiles'. Nino, how feminine of you! You might have out-gayed Jun a little bit there!
Speaking of Jun. I love how he's been steadily moving closer to Aiba's side of the couch and then, when Aiba is on HIS side he's just...righ there. Up against him. He doesn't even try to back away anymore. A little more, Jun, and I'm going to start expecting to see you playing with his hair while the camera is not on you!
Aiba is the cutest train ever. I'm sure once they were all done giving Nino shit about being the girl they all asked about train tickets and schedule times so that they could get a ride.
ETA: The cap on top. First time a Johnny's gets on his knees. *dying* I love you so much.

I loved Ohno so much in this, he's just been. Ohno has been stellar lately with the awesomeness. He looked a lot better, too, like he'd actually gotten a nap sometime in the last week! And yet he's still so Ohno, like he's almost getting Sho to back off! And then it ends with "omg plz? ;__;" and a;lskdfjalks TOTALLY AGREED ON NINO. Nino hides it better than Jun, but he is just as squishy for his bandmates and he loves them all.
Though, every time I try to think that, I also think, "Well, everyone loves Captain, so he'd be sleeping with them all, right?" And then I think, "Well, Aiba's a big ol' hornball, so he'd be sleeping with them all, right?" And then I think, "Oh, man, Jun you are just totally ridiculously fond of all of them, aren't you? So you're sleeping with all of them, right?" And then I think, "Oh, Sho. You're such a doormat, aren't you? You're sleeping with all of them, right?" and can't make up my mind. >_<
Jun seems to have given up on dignity, he's not even really protesting anymore. Like on VS ARASHI when Aiba body checked him right into Sho, Jun doesn't even smack him over the head, he just laughs! Or when Aiba practically squishes him into the corner of the couch, Jun is just :D :D :D at him. I-- ....you get what you deserve, Matsumoto. I'm not going to feel badly about making fun of your ridiculous crush on Aiba anymore!
a;lskdjaslkj THANK GOD I'M NOT THE ONLY EMOTIONAL TWELVE YEAR OLD. XDDDDD

See, I can see Aiba pouncing on the opportunity or just suggesting it when he's horny and I can see Ohno pondering it and tracking his prey down every now and again, and I can see Sho just rolling over and taking it (and, okay, if they've been childminding and cuddling children Sho might rape them) but Jun and Nino are the only ones I can see feeling like 'omg, must find badmates and sex them up because I am not going to go squishy at them'. But, yeah, Arashi/Arashi works because they are all guys who love and need each other a lot. Plus, they're guys and at least two of them have made penis comments on air.
NO, SERIOUSLY, HOW CAN PEOPLE NOT LAUGH?

Sometimes I think Jun would only sleep with one of them at a time, whoever he's got the most ridiculous crush on at the moment, but then I'm reminded of how much he clearly loves the rest of them and they would know it and totally use it against him and then he'd have to sleep with them. ....asd;flkjaslkj I would read the hell out of a fic where Ohno tracks down his prey every now and again because YES. YES YES YES.
But, yeah, Jun and Nino are the ones that get lonely for their stupid bandmates the most (Nino probably even more than Jun) and would seek them out for sexing up as a way to reconnect with them and not be too horrifyingly clingy. Because they have dignity. :<

There's so much need in both pairings, so much of each side feeding the other that you could probably write a whole essay (or three) on just this topic. (Ahahahaha, "could". orz) I think a lot of that comes down to Kagami, because with almost anyone else, Tendou may not have come back from CrazyTown, but I think it's also that Tendou is capable of learning how to deal with failing and how to connect with people in a healthier way. Like, I'm not sure... if Kagami had tried to connect with Kageyama, would it have worked as well? Or Yaguruma? Possibly, but I get the feeling that it wouldn't have been the same magic as with Tendou.
The choice Yaguruma gave Kageyama is interesting because... it's always been about one person following the other, which is something that Yaguruma needed, while Tendou... when he has someone ready to follow him (in a sense beyod flowers who turn their heads to the sun, which isn't really real for him at all), he gets cold and irritated over it, he pushes the other person away and pushes their buttons until they walk on their own. Yaguruma seeks it out instead, it's what keeps him together (even if it's not precisely healthy), while it does the opposite for Tendou.
And you know who I feel kind of badly for? Kageyama. Who sees Kagami becoming this important person, this person who matters, this person who means things to all these different people, someone who started out as a lowly flunkie and shouldn't have mattered, no matter how hard Kagami tried. But he just keeps becoming more and more important, even Tendou acknowledges him. And, as a stray thought, it's interesting that I don't think we really get much sense of the Hoppers Zecters' personalities, do we? Kabuto and Gatack are pretty clearly defined, you could probably pick up a lot on Drake and Sasword and TheBee. But with Kick Hopper and Punch Hopper....
You know, I LIKE the way you think. Plus it goes well with the shirt-sleeves theory.
I know it's probably just that Hiro needed a haircut, but I kind of like it as a statement from the show--the crazier Tendou gets, the more disarrayed his hair gets. I love the idea that you can tell Tendou's state of mind from his hair and clothes. XDDDD

Gatack is inherently stronger and--when his Rider is finally ready, finally strong enough inside--then he goes out and lays waste to shit.
This is also why I lean towards the fight in the second to last episode being serious and that Gatack really did win, even if Tendou never broke out the Hyper Zecter or combined the other Zecters. If Gatack were really and truly serious, he would just totally lay waste to the enemy, even if it's Kabuto. And I think that speaks a lot about who Kagami is, that he's not a guy who needs to beat everyone and everything up, that's not his first reaction. But if he really needs to? He's not going to lose. Even if he falls down a few times (like with Nogi Reiji), he'll keep getting back up.
Which you also see here--Kagami's "not going to lose" face against the Worms and how he's really come into his own and that's why Tendou trusts him. Sure, he's still freaking out over Juka being in danger, but he doesn't go off the deep end and we've seen him do that before. He doesn't get Juka a special car to drive her around all over the place or hover over her 24/7 after this. Because Kagami was there and Juka was safe.
I love that Kagami trusted Renge to keep the kids on the bus safe and distracted, because OMG YES. They would have been just dysfunctional enough that I can't imagine them working over Kagami and Tendou, but it would have been SO GREAT for Tendou's FACE. And it never stops being kind of fascinating to me that... the characters who are introduced as ones that supposedly have this connection with Tendou... are the ones that I could ship Kagami with. Because Renge is great and I love her puppy hero worship of Tendou, but he never really reacts to her, unlike Kagami, who they make a special point of having their relationship actually evolve and mean something. Which is part of that whole "Tendou's connections with most people go through Kagami" thing the show has going on.
....oh, man, I'd be surprised if this'll fit in one comment post. orz Annnnd, shockingly, it didn't!

Kagami and connecting--yeah, I could almost ship him with Renge or with Hiyori. But, like you said elsewhere, you'd have to take Tendou out of it for it to work. Because Kagami and Tendou just sort of lock into each other and while they don't exactly exclude anybody from their bond what they share with each other--even on a platonic level--is different from what either of them shares with anybody else. I mean, they care about Juka nad Hiyori in sort of the same ways, like Tadokoro and Misaki in sort of the same way...
Yeah, I think about them too much, probably.
Because Kagami was there and Juka was safe.
YES. Sometimes you say things that are just beautifully true.
the idea that you can tell Tendou's state of mind from his hair and clothes
How ELSE does Kagami learn to deal with him? Especially when he's pregnant. XDDD (Meg, she is made of so much awesome.)
Reply
I could sort of see Kagami/Hiyori even with Tendou around, because she was so connected to Tendou as well, plus she is his precious baby sister, if she wanted Kagami, he wouldn't stop her. But I don't think either of them felt that way about each other by the end of the show, they both seemed pretty securely just friends with each other. And I keep trying to think of a way to write Kagami/Renge, but... it's just overshadowed by what he shares with Tendou, not even just that he spent more time with Tendou, but that his connection with Tendou was at the heart of the series.

*sincerely* We had a whole conversation about Tendou being pregant this afternoon and the only reason I don't post whole entire chats verbatim sometimes is that I think maybe someday Meg will crack and actually write it. SHE HAS TO CAVE SOMEDAY IF WE KEEP WORKING ON HER. +__+

AAAAHHHHHHHH *flees with her tail bushed oooouuuut*
see, this is why someone needs to write me horrible animal ears-and-tail fic so Tendou can forget to control his ears and tail and Kagami can be like OH HELL HIS TAIL JUST WENT ALL BOTTLEBRUSH RUN AWAAAAAAAYYYY
Reply
Anyway. The point is. I was thinking I wanted Tendou to still have his ears and then he gives Kagami this really long, really hard ssssssssstaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeee because Kagami doesn't.
Kagami blinks a few times at him, "Tendou, you still have your-- ........uh, NEVER MIND, I SEE YOUR TAIL IS BUSHING OUT AND YOUR EARS ARE PINNED BACK AGAINST YOUR HEAD, FLEEING NOW."
I used to have taste, I'm pretty sure. D:

But they looked really soft and silky and when Tendou forgot to control them, they were so expressive about his mood, and he looked really, really good with them.
Also, sometimes when Tendou forgot himself, his tail would almost wrap around Kagami's arm when they were sitting next to each other, but Kagami doesn't say anything because he KNOWS the second he does, Tendou will yank it away.
