I'm not really sure why this segment didn't go very well, if they were just tired or if it was just poor planning or just one of those things that maybe isn't as interesting to Westerners as it is to people in Japan or what. But it just felt like one long infomercial and they didn't even make it fun like they did with GRA, where they got the guys involved in it. Like, I don't mind you guys trying to sell some facial cleanser, honest! Just make it fun if you're going to be on Himitsu no Arashi-chan.

And I get where you're coming from with a reluctance to ship the romantic leads of a series, that kind of tripped me up with Jun/Mao for a long time, too. I suspect that is a large part of the reason that a lot of their fangirls ship them, because they like the drama versions of Doumyouji and Makino, because they like the idea of Matsujun and Inoue Mao, rather than because there's any actual chemistry there that they're picking up on. And it IS possible to, you know, ACT like a couple when you're in a drama and not actually be into the other person, I think they're both good enough actors for that.

I think one of the biggest stumbling blocks for Jun/Mao is that... once Hanadan is over, sure, they like each other, maybe they feel that way about each other, but they're both such busy people, if something didn't happen already, what's the chances that it would afterwards? Like, Jun and Shun are still friends, they live so close to each other, they still make time to go out to eat together sometimes. While I LIKE the idea of Jun/Mao, they never really seem to mention each other outside of the times they're filming.

I didn't think that the second appearance on TFP2 was as interesting for Jun/Mao, so if you see the first one (which I think Taijiproject has on her list?) it might be a little different. They had cute little moments where they were teasing each other, Jun recognized her song even though she got almost none of the notes right, etc. And it works together with... well, like that one appearance from Hanadan Final promotion where she just leans over and totally pokes him in the side and he practically flails out of his chair, but doesn't seem to particularly mind that she was touching him.

Originally, I thought that they were next to each other just because they were the main characters (and there is a lot of that, too), but I think the little comments they make to each other are just the two of them getting along well and liking each other. But, ultimately, we won't really know and it's up to each person to decide how they see that chemistry. If they ever did announce themselves as a couple, I would be utterly thrilled and I am happy to ship them in the meantime, but part of me thinks I believe Aiba/Jun and Shun/Jun before I believe Jun/Mao. >_>a

(It could still have just been one of those moments that was amusing to talk about, even if it only lasted for five minutes total, but it's funny to think about because, yeah, Ohno IS the oldest of the group, but Jun would totally be all, "Please take care of our Leader for us." I am really, really excited for MAOU, too, because Toma seems to kind of adore Ohno already and it makes me hope that they'll have great chemistry as their characters. Also, Toma's haircut looks REALLY GOOD ON HIM right now, which is a first for me to think. .__.)
