asfdljkngd OF COURSE AIBA KNOWS WHAT TO DO IN BED! v-v" OK, so I wouldn't put it past him to manage to fall off the bed during it, but that's not because he doesn't know what to do and more because he's, well, Aiba. They very likely all know what to do in bed! E-even if Sho might not have practise with any position but the missionary one and Ohno might be in danger of drifting off in thought if you take too long with whatever you're doing... XD
But that's just one thing in fanfics that boggles my mind sometimes...^^" It's the same thing with ages - I sometimes read highschool AU's for fun and it always astounds me how people get put into classes together. I could easily imagine Nino and Jun being in one class as first-years and I could imagine Aiba being a second-year student. I might even, with a stretch, imagine Ohno being a third year student with Sho, despite the fact that he's more than a year older than Sho (because who knows, he might have started school late because of his attention deficit disorder, or something) - but Ohno in one class with Nino? While Sho and Jun are their seniors? What? How does that work?! (I'm fine with all of Arashi being in one class, strangely. I just have this weird thing about people making Jun older than Ohno, Sho or Aiba, because he isn't! Even if he acts like he is!)
But a lot of people can just ignore stuff like that, it seems and it's just me who is this scarily obsessive. XDD
(Well, I write loads and loads of crack and most of it isn't even all that good, so I probably shouldn't talk either... but I just don't see Nino as being only submissive. Sometimes, yes, but other times? And when it's about getting the better of Jun? Yeah, he'd totally top, just to get Jun to bitch about it later. XD (And you're right, he can be a lot more ruthless than Jun, especially when it's for his own amusement!) But I have to confess that I'm not really objective, because at least with Aiba, I always imagine Jun to be the bottom. With Ohno it's similar, though Ohno might stay submissive if it was Jun who initiated things; and with Sho and Nino, he might at least try to top. But mostly, I see Jun leaning more towards the submissive side; so I'm not an objective observer at all. XD)

YES. Aiba might get a little excited and whack someone in the face--or, knowing Aiba, get whacked in the face when he moved too soon--but we know for a fact that he has experience. I'm sure they all do. I mean, there's that one story that Ohno told about a concert tour where they stayed in a hotel for a couple of nights and all Sho did was watch porn. (I still laugh like a maniac every time, especially picturing Sho's horrified DON'T TELL THEM THAT!!!! expression.) They're guys. They know.
And it astounds me that people think these guys would be afraid of sex or that they wouldn't like it or that they wouldn't know what to do. I can see some wiggle room for being nervous about it, especially because they're Japanese guys and there's a lot of pressure on them to do it right (since I get the impression that sex is rarely talked about with any real helpfulness), but... still. They're 20-something guys.

a;sldfjka;lksjlkas I KNOW. JUN IS THE BABY OF THE GROUP. Even if he acts more mature than them/more responsible at times, he's still the youngest! And-- how could anyone not make Ohno the oldest, given how much they constantly give him crap about being the oldest yet still not buying his own underwear? (Despite that he totally has! Shut up, mail order counts!) I can understand if you want to go AU so that you can fit them into one high school year, that's something that requires artistic license. But when you're writing something set in reality? (....should I even be using that term? You know what I mean.) asdlfkjasl;kj no.

(Admittedly, I'm probably the least objective person around, but I at least try. XD Nino, I think, would be fine bottoming with a lot of Arashi because he likes the attention and I think connecting with the person/not being lonely is more important. Though, you put him with Jun... I think the two of them would totally rile each other up and you have to start thinking of different ways to settle things. Though, generally, I lean towards Nino/Jun more than the other way around because Jun is a giant squishie for his stupid bandmates and you can see it when they try to get him to do something. He has a bit of a NO NO NO WAY IN HELL FORGET IT DON'T TOUCH ME knee-jerk reaction and then, five seconds later, is totally folding. Ohno I think probably wouldn't care for himself, but I think he's probably a lot more aggressive in bed than most of fandom might give him credit for--he'll just get distracted on one part of the other person for, like, three minutes before they realize he's not going to move on until they make him. XD
Sho/Jun vs Jun/Sho... that one I can never figure out. I lean towards Sho/Jun because it might be super super hot... except Sho is totally bullyable and really kind of intensely passive when it comes to his bandmates, so maybe.... I think you'd probably have to deliberately work Sho up to get him to be the active partner, which might be difficult to do every time... on the other hand, maybe he just works to keep that part of him under wraps, like his temper.... (as;dlkfjasl;kj for every reason I can think of one way, I can think of a reason for the other way! *throws up hands in defeat*))

WHAT, REALLY?! *breaks down crying* I-I can just imagine the scene: Sho in his hotel room bed, under the covers (with his hand in a suspicious place), eyes glued to the TV screen - and occasionally one of the others will wander into his room to ask him something/get something from him, throw a short look at the screen and wander out again, announcing that Sho-chan is "still doing it". XDD Well, all but Aiba, of course, who immediately settles down on Sho's bed to watch it with him, until Sho, politely but with clenched teeth, tells him to please leave him alone to watch his porn in peace. XD
I could buy the whole "not knowing what to do"/"afraid of it" thing if it were explained with the fact that it's their first time having sex with someone from their band; because I'd imagine that having someone who was your friend and colleague for years suddenly become your lover would be quite a scary thing with lots of uncertainties and a lot of "how far can I/we go, what will happen if we do this" and stuff like that. But that would be less about the sex and more about the person you're having sex with...
To be completely fair, I luckily haven't seen the age-change thing outside of AU fics yet. But somehow, it still bugs me even in AU fics, because it is one of the things providing a familiar structure in AU fics. Not the ages themselves, but their ages in relation with the others, with Sho and Ohno as the oldest and Nino, Jun and Aiba as the younger ones. And yes, the others tease Ohno so much about being an old man that it's hard to imagine someone actually writing about him being the youngest...

(Nino... yes, he'd be the one to bottom simply because he wants to feel protected and cuddled and loved. Still, of course I think of him in the context of Ohmiya most and I imagine him doing a kind of "Mine!Mine!Mine!" dominance thing every once in a while and generally balancing things out. But he'd totally bottom with Sho, being possible the only one in Arashi to do that constantly; and with Aiba, because Aiba is actually really good about being protective and loving people. ^-^
Ohno... would totally depend on how he was approached, I think. If he approached the other person, or the other person approached him in a way that would make clear that they want him to take charge, he'd be top and extremely good at that. But he probably wouldn't necessarily fight for the dominant position, so if someone approached him aggressively, I think he'd just submit.
Jun/Sho...Sho/Jun... I don't know, maybe Jun/Sho at the beginning, until Sho gets the courage to pounce on Jun? Though Sho/Jun - for some reason, probably because Sho is such a really, really nice guy, that pairing brings to my mind the phrase "you kill me with your kindness" (which might be from a Leonard Cohen song, but I have no idea, really) and that sort of makes me imagine their sex as slow and somehow bitter-sweet. Mmh, not easy! XD )
A-and I'll go to bed now, because I have to get up in three hours again. v-v"

The image of everyone else wandering in and commenting that, oh, he's still at it or Aiba cheerfully plopping down onto the sofa to watch as well until Sho grinds out that could he please leave is kind of totally cracking me up, ILUSM.

Yeah, same here. You'd have to be careful with it because they're not nervous pre-teens about to have sex for the first time, they know how things go, but... I imagine it something a little like the pre-concert energy/jumpiness that goes on? Once you're in the middle of it, it's fine, you know what to do, you're still focused on not messing up, but it's something you love. Beforehand, you're nervous and edgey and trying to mentally prepare yourself. (I keep thinking of that post on sex & flirting in Japan and trying to factor that into my characterizations.) It's just... that's completely not the same thing as being afraid of it, you know?

And, of course, there's a really big difference between wanting someone to pay attention to him/cuddle him than being emotionally fragile and needing it. Nino does like attention and does get lonely without the others, but he's not crying on the inside or emo about it. I think he would bottom more than not just because he wants that person's full attention and it's easier to focus on it from that position.
Interestingly enough, I go back and forth on Sho and Nino, because Sho confuses me with his passiveness and how easily he lets the others roll right over him. It's so easy to imagine any of them pushing Sho down and doing what they want with him and Sho loves his bandmates enough (and tolerates them enough XD) to let them.
When I first got into fandom, I went with the (seeming?) general consensus that Sho was probably the one who topped most often, because that's the kind of person he seemed like. But the more I watch him (and the way he interacts with the other members) and the more I think about it, the less sense that makes to me. Like, with the latest Shukudai-kun episode and the dilatancy scene where they make Sho agree to have holes cut into his shirt--he folds after the other members eith +_+ or >:D or .___. at him for a few minutes. And then they ALL start manhandling him--Jun holds his shoulders, Aiba cuts into his shirt, Ohno holds his arms, Nino helps tug on his shirt, etc. Sho doesn't even seem to twitch during all of this, he just lets them all do what they want, like he's used to it/that's his natural reaction.
It's all too easy to translate that into imaginging what he's like in bed with them. (....this is really starting to sound like I'm trying to convert you, but I'm not! Honest! XD Half of the reason this gets so long is that I'm sounding out my own views and opinions, putting them into words to make my own view clearer.)

Actually, that’s something I often find weird about certain characterizations, because I might love passive!Ohno to pieces - but if he’s passive because he’s such an innocent, insecure little bunny, then (unless it’s a AU that explains those characteristics somehow) I just go “…what?”, because passive or not, Ohno is still a 27 year old guy, so even if he for some reason didn’t have any practical knowledge about sex, he’d sure as hell have a vast theoretical knowledge. XD
Though actually, now that I think of it, it would be kind of cool to have an AU that has one of the guys being brought up in a remote cloister - possibly nun-cloister for the additional crack - and coming to the city as a young adult to “learn about worldly ways” and meeting the rest of Arashi along the way…
S-so yes. I love me some perverted!Arashi. …Which might possibly be the reason why, after our conversation about it, my brain just wouldn’t leave me alone until I wrote fic about Sho and the hotel room porn. (Or at least Arashi and Sho’s hotel room porn. Oh, btw, there’s another Arashi story above that one, in case you should happen to be like me and wonder why the bar on the side is so far down…^^”)

If the fic had the right circumstances, I could also imagine a bit of fear. Like, they’re sure they’re in love with each other, they have decided that they want to have sex with each other - but there’s still this lingering fear that somehow, actually having sex might change everything, including the group dynamics. I could totally believe a certain “Oh God, will everything turn out alright when we’re doing this?!” panic. (I could most easily imagine that with Jun and Sho, actually, because they’re the kind of people who could be 100% sure that they’re in love and nothing bad will happen and still worry.)

It’s really fascinating to see Arashi’s relationships in the light of that…^^” (Though only theoretically, because I do feel kind of weird for thinking about this so hard… :/) Especially Nino’s and Ohno’s on-stage/on-air relationship, because now I can’t help but wonder whether Nino is trying to imply something when he touches Ohno all the time, but very emphatically forbids him to touch him back…

This is why Sho/Jun vs Jun/Sho confuses me as well--because we see Jun totally just jump right into the bullying of Sho as well, which Jun rarely does. He bitches or he glares or he snaps off quick retorts or whacks people or just generally scares the crap out of you by staring in your direction, but he rarely does much like that. Except I can think of several occasions where he's done it with Sho.
At the same time, I think Jun is someone who is naturally inclined to want someone to pay attention to him and tends to let others just railroad right over him, so once Sho got a little more comfortable in any give relationship, as long as the person wasn't a really active/aggressive sort of person....
Eh, maybe this is why--as much as I really love it--the Sho/Jun pairing just doesn't work out for me. I try and try with them but nothing ever really resolves itself.
Though, you know. I pretty much throw all of this out the window when dealing with Arashi/non-Arashi match-ups, which makes those really hard to write. orz
DAMMIT. This was almost short! And then I got to the last chunk of our conversation and... w-well. So close. And yet. ;__; Hopefully, you can recombine.

There are good arguments why he could be seme, of course. He’s the most conservative among them, so he might see it as his duty to “perform” as “the man” in the relationship; and of course he’s got the worst temper out of all of them, so he might act aggressively when they provoke him enough - but, really, I have problems seeing him as the top most of the time.
But yeah, the fandom consensus seems to be more inclined to put him on the top - I remember that when I wrote my Arashi-orgy a year ago, I was the only one to put Sho most emphatically on the bottom. (That has changed, I believe, but a lot of people still write him as very top, despite his flailiness and passivity. XD)
Of course, when he is with Jun... then it gets really complicated, because in addition to everything else, Sho and Jun have all that history with Jun fanboying (and I firmly believe, crushing on) Sho as his senpai. And sure, they're over it now, but I think it would still influence any relationship they'd have now, because while Jun's feelings for the other members were very similar to what he feels now (Nino and Aiba were his friends and equals, Ohno was someone older, but somehow "very cute" and thus probably worthy of protection in a way), Jun's feelings for Sho changed when he grew up. So if he were to fall in love with Sho now, it would always be with the background of the huge "smart and cool Sho-senpai"-crush he had back then, and I can't even begin to imagine how that would influence their active/passive decisions...
I have seen some of the caps for the newest dilatancy episode and I swear, at one point Sho sort of leans against Jun and he looks EXACTLY like a 16th century painting of “The Suffering Of Christ”, complete with the suffering but passive expression on his face, which makes me even more unsure about their seme/uke relationship... ^^"
