Drabble (Ficlet?) a Day #14-15

Mar 28, 2008 13:41

I know I've been saying this a lot lately, but I really do mean it! This ficlet stands on its own, but may someday be part of a larger series of scenes fic. But this also went long, so I'm going to count it as two days' worth. (You know what the really weird part was? I wrote this on Saturday morning and, on the very same day, Ho posted a drabble with an eeriely similar topic. Clearly, I need to stop hanging out with people so much. .__.)

Arashi, the usual warnings apply--this is fiction, I've never met them before, I have no connection--as well as it's mostly gen with my usual pairing biases at least a little bit present.

drabble/ficlet #14-15:
"Why did we agree to this again?" Sho asked plaintively. Or, well, he tried to, but the ending was sort of muffled when Aiba wandered past him, swung around too fast, and nailed Sho in the face with the giant white feathered wings strapped to his back. Sho tried to be polite about spitting a mouthful of white feathers and fluff back out, but didn't manage it very well. It had not been the first time that day.

"Sorry, Sho-chan!"

"Ehh," Jun said thoughtfully as he adjusted his crisp white suit, careful not to dislodge the ties that kept the large, glittery feathered wings in place. "I kind of like it."

"They look cool, right?" Aiba fiddled with the formerly neat tie of his own white suit while Sho took a cautious step back towards the set they were using. The backdrops had been painted a light blue with white trim and the furniture scattered across the room--a long sofa and three chairs in a semi-circle around a low coffee table--were all a brilliant white. Sho had thought it would look silly, but he'd been outvoted.

"Stop that," Jun scolded, light smacking Aiba's hands away. "You're only making it worse. Here, let me fix it."

Jun's fingers were slow and gentle against Aiba's neck, smoothing down the tie when he'd finished, hands lingering just a moment too long. Sho was never really sure if Aiba just didn't notice, chose not to think about it, or something else. Sho usually tried not to think about it too much. He glanced around, hoping to find something to get everyone moving again, since usually that was--

"Hey, where'd Nino go?" Ohno was perched on the arm of the chair, the giant wings draped over the side where they wouldn't get crushed, staring thoughtfully at his nails and didn't seem inclined to look up. Aiba and Jun looked around with him, but Nino wasn't anywhere to be seen, even among the staff members milling around behind the camera.

Aiba shrugged. "Maybe he went to the bathroom. He could be having--"

"It's not like Nino to be the one holding us up, though," Sho continued. The sooner this was done, the sooner they could get back to rehearsal, he thought crossly. "If he has to have the wings put back on again, I'll--"

"Eh, what do you mean? I'm right here," Nino piped up from behind Sho, startling him into whipping around quickly. No one felt sorry for Nino having to duck a faceful of glitter and feathers.

"What the hell are you wearing?" Jun snapped when they noticed that Nino was dressed all in black, a sharp contrast to all the white around him. Looking closer, Sho could see what he was pretty sure were little horns sticking out of Nino's fluffy hair and a matching black tail sewn onto the back of his clothes.

"The photographer thought it would be a good idea," Nino said with a delighted grin. "It'll look really good in the group shot, so--"

"Why are you the one who--" Jun started with a sharp glare, but Sho shoved Nino towards the center of the room and let him sidle up to Ohno for protection.

"It doesn't matter anymore, let's just get this done," he said impatiently. "It's fine if Nino wants to be the evil one who's going to hell, right?"

Each of them blinked at him in surprise, even Ohno looked up at Sho's tone.

"Saa," Nino muttered quietly from behind Ohno. "Maybe Sho-chan should be the one dressed like this today."

The rest of them gave Sho an exaggerated wide berth as they settled into their spots for the photoshoot and for once Sho didn't contradict them when they all muttered about his temper.
