Okay. I took way too many caps of way too many episodes, but how the hell was I supposed to resist shirtless Jun in Mago Mago Arashi #118? Or Ohno looking so damn pretty in this episode, too? I thumbnailed all of them into 150x120 images, but if you really hate having having all those little images pop up in a picspammy post, then you might want to give this post a pass. There's really, really a lot of them.
Seriously, it's kind of a monster post for screencaps.
(C'mon. MMA #118. *___*<3)
♥ - I've been reading fybabe's concert reports [the
2007.07.14 concert] and I think I'm seriously a little bit in love with her fangirling of Arashi. I know she's a huge Jun fan, so when she's merciless about his singing or his clothes, it's fantastic. I was seriously dying over her report on Jun's "YabaiYabaiYabai" solo.
Then he finally landed on the middle stage where he went on to do the core yabai perf, which was really cute if if you're deaf minus that radioactive fungus outfit^^
I wanted to quote about six different moments that had me shrieking with laughter, but I would have wound up quoting back half of the report. I love this post so much, it's so insanely hilarious and yet so perfectly captures the spirit of an Arashi fangirl that it a) makes me want to see footage of the concerts even more and b) fills me with love for this fandom and this band all over again.
I just.
I love them all.
And I love this concert report for making me cry with laughter.
♥ - Mmm,
this is nice.
No insightful commentary or anything, just. That's very, very nice.
Mmmmm.
Moving along!
♥ -
Shukudai-kun #45. There were seriously so many moments in this episode that I wanted to take completely out of context. Or so many moments that were just so adorable. (JUN PLAYING WITH FIRECRACKERS OMG YES.) Or that were just so pretty! Or showing how awfully snuggly Ohno and Jun have been lately. (I APPROVE.)
For the past couple of weeks, I've not minded Jun's current look with the extensions, but I wasn't really actively fangirling it either. But ever since Bambino ended and he's been looking so much more tanned and rested, seeming in such a good mood every time we see him and laughing so much more, I've slowly come to start genuinely LIKING-liking his new look. (Well, they all look really good in this episode, to be fair.)
It helps that there's been a lot of really blatant Ohno/Jun lately as well. They've always been pretty snuggly and maybe it's concert season starting up again (I swear, Ohno and Jun in concert are, like, ten times as gay and fanservicey as usual <3) or maybe I just want to notice it more, but it seems like there have been a lot more moments where they're huddled close together or doing really awesome things like the latest MMA episode.
I especially liked Jun losing at the kids' game on the very first try, the absolutely adorable >_o expression on his face and Ohno's comforting hand on his back. Or. Y-y'know. Kneels over him with a hilarious expression. (THANK YOU, JAPAN.)
I would really like a Matsujun of my own, plz.
The highlight of this episode definitely was the U no Arashi special, where they Janken'd for the order and then all piled onto the guest (who seems awesome and can he come back again sometime, please?) and Jun was the last one, hence facing Sho as he hopped into his lap instead of facing around the other way--and from the initial picture, it was hard to tell if maybe Jun was supporting himself with one foot on the ground on the far side, but no, no, both feet were entirely off the ground and Sho had to wrap arms around him to keep him steady and I forsee me whining for Sho/Jun fic in the figure GIVE IT TO US PRECIOUS WE WANTSES IT--but it was also pretty awesome that Aiba couldn't wear his pants right to save his life (I'm frankly surprised they stayed up the whole time) and that I swear to christ he had his hand down his pants after the U no Arashi segment.
.........that's awesome, Aiba. I love you. *_________*<3
It makes up for the confusion of WHY AIBA WASN'T ALL OVER THAT. ....actually, he looked kinda sad at being left out of the Arashi dogpile, so much so that I wanted to go give him a hug.
I loved that this episode packed so much in, too. Not only were there pyjamas and Arashipiles and Ohno/Jun, but there were also frothy green drinks and OH MY GOD DID... DID... DID AIBA JUST MICROWAVE A WATERMELON? That sounds... really gross, frankly. XD
♥ - As for
Nino dating Nagasawa Masami, I'm impressed with the fandom for being really supportive and non-wanky. Most of the Arashi fans (at least Western fandom wise) always seem to genuinely want the boys to be happy, which I'm glad of.
I have a bit of the, "Bu... bu... but I don't want Nino to be dating anyone! *kicks rocks*" reaction, but if Nino's happy... well, then I'm happy for him. (Though, I do get a little tired of being told that I'm apparently not allowed to be a little sad or disappointed about it.) All of them already give up so much for this career of theirs, I don't want them to wind up with no personal lives at all, so. I'm happy for Nino if he's happy.
It does bring up the question of how to take this into account when I write fic, do I include this? Do I just gloss over it? Do I blithely ignore it and continue to ship Nino with the rest of Arashi? Though, actually, I think it was Meg who solved this problem for me rather neatly, in her
latest fic thing, Arashi or girlfriends? They're different from each other. They just are.
♥ - I've been catching up on the subs coming out lately and between all the TV I've been catching up on lately and the fic I started reading again, it almost seems difficult to keep up again. Not that I'm complaining at all, especially with nyanchan away for the next three weeks, it's likely to be a slow month soon. Mostly I'm catching up on the shorter stuff and Shukudai-kun first.
Arashi talk in Utawara 2006.07.30 & MatsuJun pranks in Taiwan - Utawara 2006.10.01 SP are both absolute must-sees. I'd seen the but with Tsuyako pranking Matsujun in Taiwan previously, but not with subs! It's pretty much understandable even without subs (she follows Jun around during the AAA Taiwan concert and messes with him, he has no idea), but the subs make it even better.
I mean. She drew on his feet as he was sleeping after a foot massage, switched his drinks for ultra-foul-tasting tea, sneaked into his room while he was sleeping to eat his display fruit and leave flowers for him!
And he had no idea she was there, not until they got back to Japan/he got back to Utawara. The look on his face as he was watching this, omg. Apparently, the staff all knew she was there and were helping her--you can totally see the super-relieved look on Jun's face that this was planned, that she couldn't just randomly sneak in to do all this stuff--so she was able to get away with a lot. And it's played off like she's totally helping him, no really, she wrote a charm on his foot, she got him a health drink special tea! Totally. Helping.
as;dlfkjasdlkj I love her so much, too.
I also watched
Arashi no Shukudai-kun #29 (with Nankai Candies) and #30 (with Karina, the Bambino co-star), both of which were a lot of fun. If I had to recommend one over the other, I'd probably go with #30, I think it got the bigger laughs out of me (plus OMG SUCH A CUTE DOGGY), but that's mostly because... okay, I really love Shizu-chan from Nankai Candies, but it's not really my thing to laugh at how "uncute" a girl is. She plays it up and encourages it herself and apparently she gets rave reviews in Japan, though, so I don't want to seem like a wet blanket. Plus, there were a couple of moments where I loved her so much that I could hardly stand it.
My favorite moments were when they made her confess to Aiba how much she liked him (after saying that she originally liked Matsujun, but after their appearance on Tensai! together, she started to like Aiba), so she says (after they've shown the video clip of them doing the Tensai! show, washing a rhinocerous), "Eh, rather than a rhinocerous... please wash my body. <3"
They're both trying not to crack up completely, while everyone in the background is practically rolling around with hysterical laughter, and you can see Aiba has no idea how to react to this, so when he finally manages to drag out a reponse?
"Ah... star-- starting where?"
aslkfalsdjf I love it. Aiba doesn't know what the hell to say, so the first thing that pops into his mind? A filthy question. Awesome.
The other half of the comedy duo yells, "THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE ASKING!?"
Sho yells, "From the front!!" in the background while everyone laughs hysterically.
And Shizu-chan says, "(please wash) from my heels up."
asdf;lakjsdfl;akjs
Arashi are all terrible terrible people to each other and I love them all so much.
My other favorite moment was during the first time they brought out food--And as a side note, what the hell is it with Japan and stone cooking? Have they never heard of stoves?--and Jun was mixing up the expensive food and looking very cool while doing it and Sho says, "Shizu-chan, is this going to make you come back to Matsujun?"
"Watch him closely, watch him closely!" Nino encourages. And the others start getting in on the act, too.
So she leans in super-close and waaaaaaatches him :D :D :D, with the caption [In the process of evaluating] while Jun tries not to laugh, twitch, and blink all at the same time.
Nino comments from the sidelines as she's watching him intently, "She's fastened on his eyes, she's fastened on his eyes! Why?"
And then she says sweetly, "His eyes are pretty. <3"
Of course, Jun thinks this is totally hilarious and asdlfkjasldkj he is adorable when he laughs so hard he's practically twitching.
As for
Arashi no Shukudai-kun #30, I think I might have liked this one even more, but a) I hadn't seen it before and b) OH MY GOD CUTE LITTLE DOGGY. Nino picks it up and it's little paw reaches out for his face and then the puppy tries to lick him and ad;lkjafslkj I WANT ARASHI WITH A FLEET OF LITTLE FUZZY PUPPIES. AND.
OH MY GOD.
IT DOES TRICKS.
SHE GOES, "BANG!" AT IT WITH HER HAND SHAPED LIKE A GUN.
THE LITTLE DOGGY FALLS OVER AND WRITHES AROUND.
SO SO TERRIBLE.
SO FUCKING CUTE.
I also really loved the love advice corner, I really wish they'd do that again sometime. Especially when it produces gems like Aiba being all, "Man, what the hell is this? I said I was sorry already, didn't I? Your cute face is being spoiled. *poke*poke*" and all I could think that entire time was a) that is so very, very Aiba that I love it and b) I would pay a quarter for someone to write the fic where he does that to Matsujun.
Because that is the perfect way to respond to a pissy Matsujun that hasn't spoken to you for a week and you're in the middle of an arguement. He'd totally tear your face off for it, but it would be such an awesome way to lose your face. (I'm sure that's exactly the way Aiba does it when Jun's mad at him, but he has some mysterious ability to get away mostly unscathed from Jun. I'm sure I could never in a million years figure out why that is. XD)
You know, I'm still sad that Arashi doesn't do as much on-site stuff as they used to and I deeply miss A no Arashi (at least they kept the Uda Uda specials and the boardgame from hell occasionally XD), but if Shukudai-kun is going to keep producing such watchable shows like this, I'm glad.
Especially when Jun compares the guest to Aiba MULTIPLE TIMES and yet again he has Aiba on the brain. Gosh, that's totally out of character for Jun, it's not like he's always talking about Aiba or bringing him up or telling stories about him, except oh wait. Yes, yes, he is. ♥
♥ - Okay, I've been trying not to embed so many caps into my posts, but. But. Shirtless Jun who actually looks like he ate a goddamned sandwhich thank Christ. And Ohno/Jun! And Jun's fabulous pink trucker's hat.
as;ldfkjasldfkjasl;d
A pick trucker's hat.
And it's not even just "sort of" pink.
That's full-on pastel pink right there.
*crying* God, I love Matsujun.
There is so much in this episode that I want to comment on that it's almost kind of impossible to begin. I may also have taken almost 50 caps, which wouldn't be that signifigant, except I couldn't get it to cap properly (despite re-encoding the fucker to an Xvid codec that I know I have) so instead I had to manually PrintScreen out of VirtualDub. Which means the caps aren't as pretty as I'd like them to be.
On the other hand, maybe that's good, since now I can only embed so many thumbnails into the post and I kind of think that people might kill me if I do too many more.
It really feels like there's been a lot of Ohno/Jun lately. Maybe it just feels that way to me since I recently wrote fic for them and then MMA #118 came out here or maybe it's because it's concert season and they seem to be extra snuggly with each other during concert seasons or maybe it's because Sho and Nino are still working Yamatarou, so Ohno and Jun have been paired up more (since Aiba's got a few projects going on lately) or maybe it's just one of those times the wind is blowing in a certain direction in Arashi land.
Anyway, this episode really brought out the Ohno/Jun love for me again because not once, but TWICE they were walking down the beach with their arms around each other. Jun was in a good mood the entire time. I swear even their clothes matched because Jun was wearing that pink trucker's hat and at the end Ohno's wifebeater was totally, totally a pink color and they were walking on the beach at sunset wearing pastel pink clothes
*cries at the awesome forever*
Also, Jun sneaks out of his responsibilities at the concession stand to go take a quick swim in the ocean and that's so very very awesome because a) Ohno totally rats him out doesn't he? and b) HELLO MATSUJUN WHO ATE A SANDWICH.
I love that, you know, he doesn't put his shirt back on right away, since he's all wet and such, but he still puts the pink trucker hat back on. And he was laughing the whole way and seriously, seriously, Matsujun, you can go slack off work if you're going to play around in the ocean like that. I would happily watch an entire episode of nothing but Matsujun (and the rest of Arashi plz) playing in the ocean.
I loved the grandma who totally bitched Jun out for little things (like leaving his post or for not stacking the chairs right) and yet seemed to almost kind of dote on Ohno, she was so awesome. ;___;<3 And, omg, her and grandpa were so incredibly sweet together, the way she cried at the special wedding party they set up for the two of them (and as;dlfkjasdlk the headband with the flower on it was so, so sweet!) and grandpa kissed her on the cheek for the photo and, man, you could just see how much they really cared about each other.
I love when the Mago Mago episodes are so sweet that I want to coo at the grandparents and Arashi for being so adorable with them. Ohno going out to arrange flowers! Matsujun making a cake! A very nice cake, too! And somehow... somehow this requires him to be shirtless?
He... he doesn't start out shirtless, so... this is something that happened mid-cake making?
He does not, however, take the pink trucker hat off.
asd;flkasfas;lkj
Also, he is wearing Dolce & Gabbana again.
I may have taken a screencap of just that.
.....look, it's not my fault I noticed that, okay? Since I was capping in VirtualDub, it required me to advance it practically frame by frame and there was this pan down Matsujun's (shirtless) chest that showed the D&G label (on his swim shorts? underwear? it's a little hard to tell) and I just happened to notice it. It's only for i-information's sake. ....r-really.
And, oh my god, it was so awesome when Ohno came back with the flower's (that he'd arranged himself apparently! *loves*) and Jun's all, LOOK! I MADE A CAKE! Ohno responds with a rather subdued (but seemingly genuine) response and Jun smacks him.
As much as I love the other stuff, sometimes I think maybe that is what makes me don my Ohnojun tinhat the most. Because Jun playfully smacks the people he ~*~loooooooves~*~, which is usually Aiba, but occasionally Ohno. Most of the time he's a lot more snuggly with Ohno, he'll let Ohno get a lot closer than most people, he'll let Ohno put an arm around him or he'll ruffle Ohno's hair or they'll sleep with one's head in the other's lap, but the playfully violent smack... that makes me break out the tinhats.
Which I think I'm going to have to change to a pink trucker hat for this pairing.
*adjusts pink trucker hat*
....seriously, they are walking along the beach in matching pink attire. Pastel pink. And Jun just lets Ohno put an arm around him (and then another hand on Jun's other arm asdlfkjasdlkj) and they walk off down the beach like that together.
It's like.
It's like Japan wants me to write stupid, schmoopy fics.
Of course, then they follow it up with a completely awesome group talk where a) no one is apparently wearing any shoes (*APPROVES*) and they, I guess, have a contest to see who can cry on cue the fastest.
I have no idea why Jun's not participating, since the self-confessed crybaby seemed like a shoe-in until NINO WON. TINY EVIL LITTLE NINO THAT NEVER CRIES AT ANYTHING OF COURSE HE CAN FAKE A TEAR THAT FAST.
AWESOME.
Also, Sho kind of looks like he's wearing lipgloss.
Nino looked totally pouty and I swear he tends to do that the most when it's Jun around Ohno. Maybe I just don't notice it when Aiba/Ohno is on the upswing or when Sho/Ohno is happening more often lately (which is NOT NEARLY OFTEN ENOUGH, GUYS, GIVE US THE SHO/OHNO, OKAY?), but I tend to notice it every so often when it's Jun and Ohno getting close. Nino was totally looking pouty in Shukudai-kun #45 (which aired around the same time, so may have been filmed vaguely around the same time?) and that also makes me adjust my pink trucker hat.
Finally, the preview for next week is...
Well.
First reaction: ".....what the HELL, Japan??"
Second reaction: ".........../DOT DOT DOT/, YOU GUYS."
Third reaction: "................no, really, what the hell, Japan."
Fourth reaction, right around the time I got to these last few caps: ".............................thank you, Japan. ;__;<3"
