Q & A about hurricane names

Sep 21, 2005 02:48

Q: "What happens if we run out of hurricane names?"

A: If we're unlucky enough to deplete the year's supply of names we won't, contrary to popular opinion, simply start using names from next year's list. In that case, the National Hurricane Center will turn to the Greek alphabet and we'll have Hurricanes Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, etc. public, hurricane

I don't like infant formula ads because I don't like infant formula (aka artificial baby milk, aka ABM). The commercials tick me off mostly because they pretend to support breastfeeding (because they're required by law to do so), but we ALL know that if mothers in the US breastfed as frequently and as long as they do in other countries, the ABM industry would be none too happy. I really started to hate them last year when I was doing a lot of research on the ABM vs. breastfeeding "debate" and I was also watching a lot of TLC, HGTV, and the Discovery channel during the day when they BOMBARD you with ABM ads.

I'm not attacking mothers who don't breastfeed -- that's counterproductive anyway, and education and understanding are needed, not ridicule. I *am* attacking the ABM industry, because, while it does provide a needed product to a small group of women, its faults are far greater than its benefits.

I've rambled enough about this already, so I'm going to stop, except to point out that that several of my interests are related to my dislike for ABM:

anti-formula, babies, babysitting, breastfeeding, children, family, motherhood, natural birth
