i know many people knew towler better than me.  but he was the first upperclassmen to ever talk to me (brother does not count), he was my best friend's prom date, and all around the coolest guy i knew at the abbey.  sorry jay, adam beat you, eddie, my brother, and practically everyone to a pulp.  he was so easygoing, and always made me feel like maybe i didn't have to be loud and outstanding to be a good person, and remembered.  because he will be.
and i don't want to be all sad, even though the circumstances call for it.  he died defending someone, trying to be the voice of reason.  i just want to remember him being the only person to make my boyfriend feel welcome at prom, and the only upperclassman who genuinely didn't care about a hierarchy and what people might think, the boy who swore his thumb was bit by a wombat, and who would watch a Philip K. Dick documentary with me and my brother, and turn it into a soothsaying device, showing us the future of Charlie Baum.  Baum baum baum baum baum baum.
