HP7

So, the thing that bothers me about the newly released title of book 7 is that firstly, "the deathly hallows" not a really pleasing phrase. I can't remember the last "hallow" came up in conversation as a noun. The verb form is much more commonly used, and hearing it used as a noun in a context outside "All Hallows Eve" is jarring. "Deathly" is also a little weird, being an adjective that is usually an adverb (followed by a noun that sounds like a verb), but at least it's a word that people, like, use.

And secondly, it's an odd title for an HP book, given that all of the previous titles have been phrases specifically used in the books (apart from PoA, which instead denoted a specific character, though not a phrase used in the text to describe him). I have trouble imagining how "the deathly hallows" is going to be worked into common parlance in book 7. Unless it's the name of a town Harry et al visit, in which case it wouldn't have an article, would it? I don't know. I guess I just thought the title would be something cooler, but given the kind of pressure JKR's under, I can understand that the title may be a bone thrown to create speculation (just like this) while she and her editors try to make the book not suck.

Anyway, I really hope the book doesn't suck, and if Neville dies I'm going to be really, really mad. Like, a lot.

Cheers,
B&z
