Prop. 8 in CA.US :(cairoOctober 18 2008, 21:44:34 UTC
Sadly over here in California we have Prop. 8 on the ballot. "Vote yes to protect marriage!" There's a few commercials for the yes vote, and none for the No vote which is disappointing. If I didn't know better I'd say they've set it up this way hoping to confuse people. The nice thing about this, though, is that I can easily stick to my position of voting No to anything that I don't like, costs money, raises taxes, or I haven't decided on

I'm aware, and here we have a ballot option for a Constiutional Convention being called (as you can't directly amend the state Constitution here the way you can in most state). I'm hopeing that people see through the BS and reject them. We actually have a fairly decent chance in CT right now, I've been out of CA long enough that I don't know what the likelyhood there is, though that paticular commercial might do more to get the No vote out than anything the various Rights groups could put out to try to do the same thing.

The climate here on this subject is weird. It almost feels 50/50.
I finally saw a No on 8 commercial a bit ago this evening. It was perfect. No emotional string pulling, nothing. The message was simple: 'Our laws say people are to be treated fairly. So vote No on 8.'
I took pictures at someones wedding a few months ago. If this prop. passes they'll be crushed.
