I'd probably give the SO an ultimatum, either they fess up or I would tell.
I don't know how direct I'd be though. I guess it depends on if my friend knows the person that their SO is cheating with. If they know each other, I'd probably start saying stuff like "They spend a lot of time together, huh?". Because there's always the possibility that they already know.
