Title: Where There's Smoke
Word Count: 135
Characters: Julianna, Jean-Claude, Anita, Asher
Challenge: #48 Fire
Author's Note:This is set in an AU I've written and RP'd where Jean-Claude and Asher are Co-Masters of London. They're linked to each other as part of their linking with the city. They also have picked up powers in other ways.
The smell, it was the smell that was the clearest. Jean-Claude could taste burning hair, burning flesh. At first it was just a memory, not even his, of Julianna's death. He heard her call his name exactly as Asher remembered it, but the scream that followed wasn't Julianna's. Anita was burning, and Jean Claude raised his eyes up to see it. The flames rose so high he could barely see her behind them, barely follow how she burned. He should be hurting, should be screaming, his Human Servant was dying before his eyes, but he felt nothing beyond a distant curiosity. Then someone was shaking him, and he was blinking at Asher.
"I am sorry for the memory, mon amour," the other vampire said with regret.
"I was dreaming, mon chardonneret, only dreaming," Jean-Claude promised.
