Good News or Bad News First?

If I felt like dragging it out I suppose I could put it to a poll. I'll just do the bad first, get it out of the way...

My dad's been having heart trouble lately. They did a stress test, and Tuesday his cardiologist finally went over the full results with him. Mom said the nurses she works with told her the doc should be fired for taking so long. Seems dad's got a blockage that's either going to require a stent or a bypass. They want to do a CAT scan. We're waiting for mail from the hospital on when. My mom grumbled about snail mail, wanted to know if they'd heard of a phone or email. He had a double bypass years ago. I might have been 11 at the time. What I remember mostly is how awful he looked in the hospital. Yeah.

Good news, I've finally gotten around to reading some of Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse books. Or is it the Dead series? Anyway, I've finished Dead Until Dark, and started Living Dead in Dallas. misura you were right about my liking them. It manages to remind me of the early days of the ABVH books, when I still liked them, and be very much it's own thing. Having only read the first book so far I don't know how much it stays in the small town setting, but it's cool feeling a familiarity with the setting from living in a small town while the small town is quite alien to me. It isn't alien because of the universe it's set in. It's alien because it's in the Deep South and I live in New England.
