I wasn't raised by or with a classic "One franchise, and one franchise only" fanboy. Everyone in my family has their favorite science fiction franchise, but we all appreciate each one. The origin dates for Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Star Wars are...
(Classic) Doctor Who, November 23, 1963
(Classic) Star Trek, September 8, 1966
Star Wars (Chapter IV), May 25, 1977
So, Doctor Who hadn't moved beyond the First Doctor when Star Trek premiered. Plus, not only had Star Trek been around for more than a decade when Star Wars premiered, but Classic Doctor Who had been on PBS stations in the US since it arrived September 25, 1975.

Flash Gordon was wearing tight pants before either of them had been dreamed up by their creators. Flash Gordon's creator Alex Raymond put him in tight pants in the 1930's. Flash Gordon debuted January 7, 1934. The pictures of Flash Gordon my dad and I scanned are from 1940, but the look is classic Flash Gorden. Enjoy...
