Disney Stuff and Favorite Fictional Females of Color

I finally got around to seeing Tangled and I really love Pascal and Flynn. They're the characters I've made icons of. Pascal is the chameleon. Flynn is the male romantic lead. I wasn't as taken by the villain or the music. My dissatisfaction with the music prompted me to make a Top Five of the love songs from Disney animated features that I do really love.

My Top Five Disney Love Songs

1. "Kiss the Girl" (The Little Mermaid)
2. "Tale as Old as Time" (Beauty and the Beast)
3. "Once Upon Dream" (Sleeping Beauty)
4. "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" (The Lion King)
5. "A Whole New World" (Aladdin)

One of the recent Fannish Friday Fives was, "Who are your five favorite female characters of color?" I couldn't resist thinking that when you start talking about fictional characters they come in so many colors and shapes. I made three different Top Fives from that one prompt. They are Earthlings, Aliens, and Non-humanoids, (the Non-humanoid list is the only one to include both Earthbound characters and aliens). The only kind of female you won't find in these lists is a caucasian woman, or an alien woman who resembles a caucasian woman.

The Earthling List
1. Ororo Munroe/Storm (The X-Men)
2. Toshiko Sato (Torchwood)
3. Divya Katdare (Royal Pains)
4. Fa Mulan (Mulan)
5. Maggie Eagle Bear (Thunderheart)

The Aliens List
1. Zhaan (Farscape)
2. Trance (Andromeda)
3. Hepzibah (Starjammers)
4. Na'Toth (Babylon 5)
5. Jabe (Doctor Who)

The Non-humanoid List
1. Heart's Blood (Heart's Blood)
2. The Last Unicorn (The Last Unicorn)
3. Kanga (Winnie the Pooh)
4. Luna (Sailor Moon)
5. Dory (Finding Nemo)
