Fannish Fives, Articles and Story Prompts That Amuse Me
I've got a backlog of things I've been meaning to post. If I've packed too much into this post let me know and I'll break it up into two.
Five Songs
Name five songs that remind you of any five characters from fandom.
I'm limiting myself to one song per character because I could do five just for Darien, Captain Jack Harkness, or Methos. I'm also limiting myself to one character per fandom because I could do five characters from World of Darkness, Torchwood, or Highlander.
1. "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" - Darien (World of Darkness)
2. "Time After Time" - Captain Jack Harkness (Doctor Who/Torchwood)
3. "Tubthumping" - Methos (Highlander)
4. "Kiss My Irish Ass" - John Grant (Profiler)
5. "Meadowlark" - Asher (Anita Blake)
Five Deaths
What five character deaths affected you the most?
1. Spock (The first time I remember seeing adults cry for a fictional character. '82)
2. Optimus Prime (The first time I cried for a fictional character. '86)
3. Douglas Ramsey ( The first time a comic book death made me cry. '88)
4. Prince Terenil ( The oldest character I'm still in denial about. He lives damn it! '90)
5. Ianto Jones (The character I'm currently campaigning to get back. '09)
Having made the list and checked on when Doug was killed, I know the first three have each been brought back. I don't think it happened as quickly with Optimus as it did with Spock, and I know it took a loonnng time with Doug. It's comforting to know that however long it took for each of them it did happen. I'm going to keep campaigning for Ianto.

Sci-Fi Crossover Prompts
Sometimes I find myself looking at writing prompts when a friend is trying to pick one from a writing comm, and get lost in the prompt choices. I'd like to thank medie for leading me to look at the Multiverse 2010 Prompt Claiming Post here.
These are the ten prompts I felt like saving, even if I'll probably never do anything with any of them. I mean I can't do anything with the one that involves The Vorkosigan Saga since I haven't yet managed to read any of those books. I know they've been recommended to me. They're on my "to read" list. I just haven't gotten to them.
1. Babylon 5/Torchwood: Jack Harkness has been floating around the galaxy for a while now, but he's always been a sucker for a good cause. (Bonus points if he joins the Rangers.) [This one makes my heart ache.]
2. Farscape/Doctor Who: Stark and the 9th Doctor [This one also makes my heart ache.]
3. Stargate SG-1/Star Trek DS9: Jacob Carter and Jadzia Dax [This one would be a hoot.]
4. Trigun/Firefly: The Firefly has business on Gunsmoke; Wolfwood and Book catch up over a few drinks. [This one makes me wish I could sit by that table.]
5. Power Rangers/Torchwood: Torchwood investigates the alien invasion in Angel Grove. [This one makes me feel better about my never written Ben Ten: Alien Force/Torchwood crossover.]
6. Star Trek TOS/The Vorkosigan Saga: In the course of a diplomatic mission to Barrayar, Amanda Grayson of Vulcan meets Cordelia Naismith Vorkosigan. [I haven't even read the books, but I know this would be cool.]
7. Star Wars/Firefly: Boba Fett & River Tam. [This would not end well.]
8. Torchwood/3rd Rock from the Sun: "If it's alien, it's ours." [Neither would this.]
9. Stargate SG-1/Doctor Who: Ba'al and the Master [This one scares the Hell out of me.]
10. Star Wars/Battlestar Galactica (2003): IG-88 finds it offensive that the Cylons make themselves look like common fleshbags. [This one makes me scared I agree with IG-88 on something.]
