Er, the "he" would be my governor, Maine Governor John Baldacci. The "it" would be signing into law LD 1020, "An Act to End Discrimination in Civil Marriage and Affirm Religious Freedom."
We can haz gay marriage noe!
Okay, so I was worried about the bill even after the house passed it 89-57 and the senate passed it 21-13. I wasn't sure how our "good Catholic boy" governor would handle it. He not only signed it he said, "While the good and just people of Maine may determine this issue, my responsibility is to uphold the Constitution and do, as best as possible, what is right. I believe that signing this legislation is the right thing to do." Now I have to wait and see if the voters in this state will crush me like the voters in California did. The opposition is promising they'll get the law sent to a state vote. We have a "People's Veto" in this state. For now I party!
*Happy dances.*
Tomorrow I prepare to defend the law.
