Holiday Wish List Meme 2008

Nov 27, 2008 23:21

[Update 2/1/16]
STEP ONE

-Make a post (public, friendslocked,filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of your holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. [1]

-Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

STEP THREE - The List
1. A teddy bear dressed up as Captain Jack Harkness complete with greatcoat (Blue shirt preferred.)
2. A teddy bear dressed up as Ianto Jones complete with fob watch (Red tie preferred.)
3. Torchwood novels featuring Captain Jack Harkness and Ianto Jones
(In particular Consequences, it's a short story collection I've heard is worth it just for "Virus" by James Moran.) I've got a bunch now. I've even got a copy of The Twilight Streets signed by both Gary Russell and Gareth David Lloyd. :D
4. Figures of Captain Jack Harkness in his greatcoat
(Micro-Universe would be okay with Captain Jack's Chula Warship) Mom gave me the Doctor Who 5 inch Jack figure in his greatcoat, I got the Micro-Universe Jack at Torchsong
5. Doctor Who novels featuring Captain Jack Harkness
(In particular Only Human by Gareth Roberts) Got this from Anonymous
6. Figure of the 9th Doctor I got Nine at Torchsong
7. Jack/Ianto fanfic involving Christmas and-or dancing
(Do I need to say romantic? Because that is what I would like.) Given by fleta
8. John Barrowman albums [2]
(In particular Another Side and-or Music Music Music) Given by fleta
9. Anything from My Amazon Wish List.
10. Something from one of my previous lists: '05 List, '06 List, '07 List.

[1] Santa (or one of his elves) can reach me through beccadg@livejournal.com
[2] John's albums, the books I named by title, and a Captain Jack Harkness action figure in his greatcoat are all on my Amazon Wish List. I feel like I failed to want more variety, but Captain Jack Harkness, Ianto Jones and John Barrowman are what I want. Uh, and Nine. Well, I'd have put an Ianto figure at number 8 if he was in the first Torchwood releases. x_x
