Sian P.O.V

I hear Sophie calling after me as I exit the apartment for the second time in less than five minutes but I don't go back. I just run. And run. And, well... Then I get a stitch and have to start walking. But that's not the point - the point is I keep going, my vision blurry with tears. I had no idea where I was going when I first left but I now know where my feet are taking me. There's only one person in my life I can trust other than Sophie. I need to speak to her.

Sophie P.O.V

“Sian wait! Sian!” I call but she just ignores me and keeps on running out the door. I don't know what's up with her but I do know she clearly doesn't want me chasing after her, so I just give up, hoping she'll be back soon.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

It's been hours now and she's not back yet. I get that maybe she just needs to be alone or something. She used to do this a lot. But usually she only lasts about an hour or so. Especially in the winter time. It's cold outside today and it's even raining slightly, surely she would want to come back inside. She hates cold weather and she really hates rain. She also hates walking very far. Whenever she used to run off, if she hadn't came back within an hour like she very often did, I would always find her close to home. Often in the park on the bench sheltered by the trees. She'd then beg me to take her home and make her a hot chocolate.

But today she's not back yet. It's been five hours. I thought I would be better to just leave her but now I'm beginning to question whether my decisions were right. I've phoned her several times each time getting no answer. What if something has happened to her? I don't think I would ever be able to forgive myself.

I put on my coat and shoes and leave the flat in search of Sian. I rush to the park, expecting to see her sitting on the bench like she has so many times before, but no luck. I walk around the perimeter or the park for five minutes and still can't find her. The bus stop. The cafe near our house. The corner shop. She's nowhere and I am beginning to worry.

I re-enter the flat building and make my way up the flight of stairs to our apartment, realising that the door is unlocked. I definitely locked it when I left. And only one other person has a key. Either Sian is home, or someone has broken into our apartment and stolen all of our stuff.

“Sian?” I call out, entering the flat. “Sian?” No reply.

I walk into the bedroom to find Sian stuffing items of clothing into a bag.

“Sian?” I ask.

“Hey.” She says not making eye contact and continuing packing her bag.

“Sian, what are you doing?”

“What does it look like I'm doing? I'm packing.”

“Thanks Mrs State-The-Obvious. I can see that you're packing but why?” I ask as she still keeps her head turned away from me, pulling some of her clothes out of the wardrobe. “Look at me!”

She turns around, stepping a little closer to me before speaking.

“I think it's best if I move out.” She says looking into my eyes for a split second before diverting her gaze to the floor.

“More out?” I ask. “Are you being serious? Where to? Because in case you haven't realised Sian, you have nowhere else to go!”

“Oh cheers for reminding me!” She scoffs sarcastically.

“Hey, I wasn't making a dig.” I reply calmly. “It's just the truth, isn't it?”

“Yeah well Katy said I could stay with her and Ches for a while. Just until I find somewhere else to stay-”

“Somewhere else to stay?” I interrupt her. “With what money Sian? 'Cause last time I checked you weren't exactly the wealthiest woman in Manchester! Plus, why stay at Katy's? You have a home... Here!”

“Yes but Sophie this is your home! I don't even have a right to be here anymore. Plus this is the second time in one week where I have ruined what could have been great relationships for you before they've even started!”

“Oh right 'cause they've both been a right catch haven't they?” I remark sarcastically.

“Soph..ie. Sophie, that's not the point! How can you ever expect to be happy in life, if I keep pushing anyone who actually stands a chance of making you happy out of the way?”

“But, you ma- erm... Stay. We've been doing okay so far have we not?”

“Well, not really-”

“But this is your home.”

“Well, technically it's yours since you-”

“No Sian just listen, okay? This isn't 'technically my home'. This is our home. As in your home, my home, our home. And I'm sure Katy and Chesney will be more than happy to have you for a few days, but, and I mean this in the nicest way possible... You are an absolute nightmare to live with. You will drive them completely mad and you can't stay with them forever. So then what? Are you expecting money to magically appear out of thin air? Are you expecting a giant bonus from work? 'Cause it's not gonna happen Sian, and you'll have nowhere to go-”

“Enough Sophie!” Sian snaps. “You make out like I'm some bloody charity case. I can look after myself you know. We're better off without each other, you know that. And if I'm such a nightmare to live with why do you even care?”

“Because... Well...” The truth is I don't know. I just do. I can't quite put into words why even though she is such a nightmare at times and extremely annoying I can't imagine my life without her.

“Just save it, yeah? I'm going to stay at Katy's tonight and that's final.” She picks up a large bag and walks through the flat with me following close behind. “I'll be back for some more of my stuff another time.”

“But Sian-”

“Trust me Sophie,” Sian says turning to face me before she leaves. “You won't even notice I'm gone.” And with that she turns and walks away. I no there's absolutely no use in following her so I don't even try. Usually when Sian makes up her mind that's final - There's no changing it. And besides, she can do whatever she wants. We're not a couple anyway...
