ahhhh....spa....
so yesterday (nursing an evil hangover) i used my spa gift certificates at a fancy pants spa. really fancy pants. first up was a hot stone massage which was amazing. however i wasn't planning on having my hooters exposed, no matter how briefly - it was hard to relax until i was flipped over and she started on my back. after melting into a pile of butter i went to the "relaxation room" to wait for my facial. i should have probably done my facial first (never had one before) since having your zits popped by a crazy russian lady is anything but relaxing. she told me to relax and fall asleep if i wanted while she gave me a rather "vigarous" head, neck and hand massage - sleeping was not likely. after about an hour of hot towels, scrubs, masks and lotions i left glowing but anxious to get the hell outta there.
i went to pay and it seemed higher than i expected, i asked if i could add on gratuity and she said it had already been added (18% per service). i was glad it included it when i heard the total (only $13 over my gift certificate total), but since when is an 18% gratuity automatically added - sounds more like a service fee than a gratuity. what if i wasn't happy? i understand servers not wanting to get screwed with a large dinner party, but it just seemed odd with a spa service. whatever - the massage ruled....
