G Rock 106.5 Interview

Jan 25, 2008 17:25

Marty Bellar, on being the new drummer for indie legends They Might Be Giants: I'm legendary as well, so it evens out. You know, I signed a banana1 the other day.
Linnell: That's true, that part.

***
Marty: It's the best gig I ever had.
Interviewer: Did you just pay Marty this morning?
Flansburgh: We pay Marty frequently.

***
Flansburgh: Like, I remember being young and hearing Dean Martin say stuff that was tragically old and I just thought, "Man I hope I'm never that old," and then ...here I am.

***
On the Grammys, Linnell: [grins] My wife said, when we won, "They just changed your obituary.2"

1I think that's true; I talked to some guy online who told me he asked Marty to signed his half-eaten banana, and he was so happy that Marty actually signed. Not sure what he did with it afterward. Think he said he was gonna freeze it.

2This is how you know you picked the right woman.
