Alphabet of Nations on the Late Late Show

Oh, how I wish I had been able to stay up for They Might Be Giants on the Late Late Show with Colin Ferguson! I just caught a poor-quality version on YouTube. Thanks to leolapyre for directing me to it.

The Inestimable Value of Good Wardrobe.

Poor Mr. Flansburgh, usually large and in charge, by which I mean, he is a man of girth who carries it with athleticism, was dressed badly, in a jacket with distracting tasseles, and no room for his marvelous shoulders to move, and a shirt that was critically too short for a man performing onstage.

Near the end of the clip, he is raising his arms and ta-da! I get to see every flans_girls dream come true - his actual torso, including his hairy navel. Now, those of us with a tooth for him will be charmed, but those without will feel they have become too closely acquainted with his anatomy for casual TV viewing.

Oh, Flansy, Flansy my sweet hunk o' man meat! You look fine, just get a longer shirt. Not that it needs to be said now. He probably already knows and is smacking the heel of his hand to his forehead as you read this. coochy-coochy! *tickles his tummy*

As an aside, Mr. Miller rocked the keyboards, playing with Flourish and Style, btw.

Okay, the flip side of The Inestimable Value of Good Wardrobe.

Wow, Mr. Linnell, just wow. I am stunned the difference his sudden change of clothing style makes, this time in a jacket that actually flatters him? That makes his shoulders look bigger and his hips smaller? In pants THAT ACTUALLY FIT? *erk* Can't be the Mr. L. we know and love, the super-casual guy with ripped crappy tees and over-sized jeans, tacked at the sides as if he had just lost 100 pounds. Can't be him. That guy was so, so, so alpha *rrrrowrrr*, so pulled together and grownup looking! OMG, he didn't look like a college kid who just rolled out of bed with a hangover and dashed onstage, as endearing as that is, but .... wow. I cannot say enough about how downright handsome he looks in that get-up.

Plus he only patted his pockets twice; it was barely noticeable. Very nice, sir. You did goooood.
